well in wa you dont need a spare wheel.. but if you do have one it must be road worthy.. (idiot pits guy informed me of this and failed me (maybe his wife left him that day.. i dunno..).. so i put the tyre in my mates car.. drove round for a reinspection and passed)
Thanks for that. BTW, going by that logic, couldn't you have just removed the unworthy spare wheel and then had reinspection?
good question actually... what do you do if you get a flat in a z middle of nowhere..?... ie, i can't imagine driving back from GOR on a space saver..
no need for one... RAC, 200km free towing if i need it hehehe plus it depends how far from home you go? living in the city im never THAT far from home to get a lift to get one of my other rims
I should really join RACV or something It not like i can just have 5 alloys either, coz front and back are different widths!... grr!
u dont need a spare for front and back.... i mean if you kept your space saver on you anyway like your meant to its not like you can keep hooning around, its just so you can limp home...
I drove 50km home on my space saver when I got puncture and have 18" rims. Imagine a TT zed driving 60kph on a single line highway with a line of 10-20 cars backed up behind LOL. It can be done, you just gotta take it easy. Was a front wheel though, don't know what it'd be like on the back. Hmmm, 1 x 265/35/18 and 1 x cheese wheel.
not illegal to have no spare, but if u do it must be road worthy. and im pretty sure space savers say to only use them for 500m or somthing, and thats the entire tires life :S, got a zed in the bay with a space saver on, has had it on there for over a month now :S povo bastard.
why would you have a tyre that says you can only drive 500m on it?!?!?! thats pretty stupid... it says dont go over 80km/h on it
mine was sitting in my garage for like a year since I don't have the factory scissor jack or any way to inflate the thing (the 2 seater spare doesn't fit inflated).. I just had a can of puncture repair which may do the job in most cases but would want to pull the tyre off to clean it out if I ever used it.. normally they can repair the tyre without pulling it off the rim. It's back in the Z now but only to prevent the boot cover from caving in. I intend to make it usuable some day though.
