Hi there kiddies, :D For some reason I haven't any brake lights, the warning light on the instrument panel comes on, indicating there's a problem, when I put my foot on the brake. The globes seem ok & the tailights are working ok.I've checked the fuses in the drvrs side footwell & also the near the brake booster & all are fine. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

    Rear Lights

    Hi Grahame,

Had the same problem, check the sensor in the right hand rear next to the light assembly.
Mine had blown so i bypassed it and the lights work ok now.

    Recheck globes

When you say 'globes seem OK', have you actually taken them out and put them into another socket to check? If not, they may look fine, but could have a small break in the filament that prevents the connection. Sometimes hard to see in those small globes, particularly if you don't have a good light source to examine them with!

    Thanks for your replies,

much appreciated.:) I haven't had a chance to have another look at it again this week, but I will 2nite.I will action the suggestions you have all brought to mind & see what happens. The globes I will double check, but I'm pretty sure they are ok.Failling that, off to the Auto Elect.

    red32 You talkin' to me?

If the brake filament in a dual parking/brake light is blown, the increased(?) resistance will cause your brake light warning lamp to illuminate. Swap the globes around and test whether or not they work as designed. Failing this, buy a couple of new globes (El Cheapo @ any servo) put them in place of the faulty ones and see what happens. Much cheaper than an autosparkie. If this doesn't fix the problem, then the cost of the globes is insignificant in relation to getting the electrical circuits checked professionally. If your high center brake lights illuminate with the brake pedal depressed, then there is nothing wrong with the electricals, it's just the globes.

    BigCol That's what she said...

Seconded. I swapped mine out with another one to confirm that this was the problem.

    Ok! found the culprit.

After doing the normal process of ellimination,re: checking all relevant fuses etc..etc,& all ok,I reverted back to the globes & under much closer insp'n, & not by the naked eye, but by magnifying glass, that one (1) of the globe's filament fused but not broken which rendered it undetectable by the naked eye. What made me think that this was more than just a blown globe was that I didn't have ANY brake lights.Normally when a globe blows the other globes still function. Anyway thanks again to all those that replyed,it was much appreciated.

    Cheers
