Nistune Licence Dilemma

I'll be looking to turn the key on my Zed for the first time probably tomorrow or the day after but until I make some changes to my current Tune I can't. I've gone from 370CC injectors to 750CC and not 100% sure if some other value needs to be changed due to the two separate intakes from the Selin Kit.

The problem is I can't upload / modifying anything with my Trial version of Nistune and I don't like the idea of paying $220 for a Licence I'll only use once as I have no real strong interest in learning to self tune or modify anything.

Sav (CUSTOMTT) was generous enough to send me a copy of his tune since we both have the same Injectors & Selin Kit. Is there any other program out there I can use to just upload this new tune (*.bin) file to my ECU? Just enough to get it mobile, at which point I'll be taking it to my Tuner and he can look over it to make sure its perfectly safe to keep it on there.

I realise I could ask someone with a Licence over to upload the tune, but I'd feel bad for asking someone to go that far out of their way for this as I'm pretty sure the nearest person with one is hardly nearby. :(

    Appreciate any help.

you need to use an older version of nistune trial to upload the bin file. Pm chilledpain he can email you the older version.

are the trial copies a single use key or can you locate someone with another lappy or puter you can use and install the trial version you have on that for installation

you just uninstall it then install it again but yea its just a once off use but that's all it should take if your just loading a bin file. :)

I thought I still had Jamie's number but I guess I must have lost it at some point. I sent him a PM. :)

a single use key is just that, normally it requires some form of activation (online or over the phone) where as most trials will leave a registry entry that tells your pc that it has been installed and once a certain condition has been meet (amount of uses or set period of time) the entry remains in the registry to let the program know it has been used to its max. off topic I know but thought I should try and muddy the waters some more :p

Just installed my nistune last night, does anybody have a copy of a version of the nistune software that will allow me to rip a stock tune onto my ecu for the time being?

PM me your email. Can send you an old copy that was emailed to me (thanks again Jamie!) tomorrow morning when I get back home.

    Thats how I did it.

I had no idea there was a trial version of Nistune.

Theres always been a Trial Version. You just type in "trial" for the start up page and it activates a 30 day trial with limited features.

Alright, I've had a few PMs recently all asking for a copy of the old version Chilledpain was nice enough to pass onto me late last year.

Decided to just go ahead and through it up on a File Sharing site for any interested to give it a shot.

Alright, now that the disclaimer is done.

To install it, you must first set your Computer date back. I last used Jan 15th 2009, because if you install it with the current date, it'll recognize that it is way past the trial date and immediately expire. Once it does that, I know of no way besides formatting and re-installing Windows to get another shot.

Once installed, install the ROM pack. Then launch NIStune. Haven't used it in a while, but I recall it may ask you to provide log-in details of some sort, use "trial" for both name and password, pretty sure you leave the E-mail field blank.

It should then load up to the main page, then you can do your thing.

Be aware though, if you were to shut it down, you will have to uninstall NIStune and re-install it to get it to launch again or it will tell you the trial has expired on next launch (frustrating, I know). I got around this by setting my Laptop to Hibernate whenever I was finished for the day. Then when the Laptop booted up again, it will restore your last Windows Session with NIStune still running (you can also do this with a Desktop, though unless you have one long ass cable I don't get why anyone would put this on a desktop, lol).

With January 15 2009 it kept telling me the system date was wrong. I put in February 15, 2010 and it worked. Thanks.

    OMG

    What a headache -

Not meant to be used in this way, the trial is a try before you buy, rather than a working limited type of program that you can use. You will always have issues doing it this way (and you will have the bugs built in instead of the updated improved version)

Solution - dont be stingy, go and buy a licence or find a friend that has one

Yes, Matt spent a lot of time and effort making the software, and he constantly updates it. Spend the money and support a local Aussie! Even if you go one copy between a couple of you, you get the latest version of the software every 3 months.

I have no qualms about paying every cent asked for a product I will constantly use. But I made it very clear it was just a one off use. Heck I would probably be open to paying a fraction of the full License to be able to only just upload/download Tunes but not modify them. Would have been great if there were 2 versions of NIStune, a Basic and Full version... unfortunately those options weren't there so I felt compelled to go to this extreme.

To the date reply before, yea I couldn't remember if it was 2009 or 2010. Like I've been saying, only used it once 6 months ago.
