Be interesting to know how many members have actually logged on and read or posted in say the last 6 months or so though.
I was thinking about this..... was wondering if it was possible to design some program to delete old usernames. By old, I mean people that havent logged on in a year or so. We may have close to 2000 members but I think realistically that only half or one quater of that number even visit the site anymore. Would it free up some computer space and speed things up if we deleted old, long gone usernames?
Problem with that is... it'd more than likely break things when trying to look up a member that'd written an ages old post.Clearing out never posted/haven't logged in for ages (or ever) peeps would presumably be fine tho, although i'd bet the only real difference would be a cleaner member directory d :
Just flag the old accounts as disabled >> so that they dont show up in the members section anymore but it wont screw up the threads that they have posted inthen the members section will show a more realistic figure
This is something i'll be looking at doing If I can ever get around to the updated version of the forum.Like people say, about 1 year since last logon and i'll make them inactive so that it cleans the member dir up a bit.
how about..... making it so as old members are deleted, we all move up a place in the member id number. Kind of like the stonecutters episode in the Simpsons where you have to respect the members with the higher ranking=)
