    Hi all.
Have always had a soft spot for the ZX, and today I took possesion of one.

Aus model automatic (so the wife can also drive it).
This more or less replaced the Mercedes I used to drive daily due to it being written off recently.

Very happy with the purchase. Everything works (including the Aircon) engine runs a little rough, but I believe that I can get that sorted rather easily.
Immediate concerns are a new front windscreen, repair rust on the top scuttle, 4 new tyres, and brake pads.
Solid feeling car with only 1 weird 'clicking' sound from (I believe to be the rear end, wife thinks it's within dash...) Only happens when going over a bump or harsh dip in road.

Will create a build thread soon enough once I start getting to work on it.
So far I have simply fixed the twisted seat belts, adjusted the headlight beams and removed some of the junk from the trunk.

    Anyway, cheers all.

    Cheers.
    It's a 92 model.
    160,000k on the clock.
Has original owners manual with all service records and receipts until 100,000k.
Has the digitial climate control option which is nice, and the full factory stereo with cassette and CD.
Suffice to say, my Bluetooth headunit will be replacing the sound system, with some new speakers, and having a pocket slot put in place of the CD player.

Overall the car is very clean, has been involved in a collision or 2, but the work was reasonable quality.

Main aim is to put it back to being factory clean (fix the door trim, repair the right side pod mounting, touch up the odd paint chip and have the front bumper resprayed. with gutter rash wheels repaired.

As I have little time to dedicate it will take me a while, plus in the means of rebuilding my wifes FTO also.

I might succumb too 1 little mod of clear side repeaters, simply to match the front bumper indicators.

EDIT: Oh, and the exhaust and factory with the drivers rear muffler cactus, so will find some tasteful quad tip straight through's to replace also.

    Happy Auspec day :D

Clicking noise could be anything, but if your wife thinks dash and you think rear, then how about checking the overhead area near the interior/map lights. (Little fan for the auto climate control)

Cheers for that, will check that area out.

LOL. All good cars are bank balance grave yards.
Based in the Hunter Valley at the heart of Wine Country.

Hunter valley. there are a few good forum members down that way.
Nice and close for cruises or tech days.
Thought you might have been in the Mudgee area.

Yeah. In talking with the sellers, apparently someone from 'a forum' (never specified) lives in Kurri Kurri. Apparently looked over the car.
I have seen a Z drive toward that direction from Cessnock recently, unsure if same person.

Every afternoon on the drive home from work I pass a black turbo out Islington way.

Mate, congratulations on the purchase and welcome to the place where Heaven and Hell collide.
Wine is good, so glad you have ready access to it. If you. Sorry, when you start trying to fix the car yourself then wine will be useful.
Can you buy it by the truckload? :D

Haha, don't worry, every car I own/ owned gets lavished with attention and dollar signs.
The wine definitely does help right after the many boxes of bandaids.

Already started to fix it, ordered brake pads, getting all filters this afternoon and spark plugs, then to start work on the IAA.

Installed new headunit in the early morning hours as I can't sleep until something is finished.

Suffice to say, I need a din pocket now.

ECUtalk real time display unit, fits there. You might just skip the din pocket.

What can you do when an unknown Zed passes by?
The forum needs a hand signal for all those times a Zed drives by when you are driving your daily /work car.

Three fingered wave? might be seen as a two fingered sign, so someone think of something.:W:

Yeah, I have the datascan cable and a mini laptop which I use.
Realistically there isn't enough space to put anything anywhere in the car, so a din pocket for my wallet and whatever else would be nice.
Already removed the ash tray in favour of fitting a bottle or can there, simply need to get the cup hold insert.

Most FTO owners just hi-beam flash each other.

    Might start my build thread.
