"New" Wheel Setup

Discussion in 'Non Technical' started by articdragon192, Feb 5, 2011.

  1. So I thought I'd finally share my new wheel set up with you guys. I pulled my CE28s off and had them powdercoated. However, after stripping them down, this was found by the coaters:

However, the other 3 wheels had been finished up, so here's a pic of one to show off the finish closely.

It's called Pearlescent White and it looks amazing IMO.
Just got my last wheel back from repair today. Awesome work.

Put on the other 3 wheels in the mean time. Slapped on some 12mm spacers in the rear as well, which meant more fender pulling needed. No biggie!

Finally got my fenders evenly pulled. One side was pulled an extra 9mm, and the other was pulled an extra 4mm. I was also able to even out the pull.
So now my rears sit at a 18x10.5 +6 :)
The fronts are 18x10.5 +13 for those wondering as well.

    And now a side shot

Did some experimenting as well. Got some of this:

And put it on. At night, with direct white light on it, it's pretty fluorescent and pops like crazy, as in this pic:

But honestly, it's not that apparent. Here's a shot of it with and without flash.

Not too flashy. Might run it for a while and see how I feel about it a week from now. At least it's reversible, haha.
Took some video too! Again, this is with a bright white LED light right on it.

And got some love from SpeedHunters as well :)

Needless to say, a simple color change made a significant difference in the car's appearance, and I'm very happy with how the fitment and finish came out. Comment away.

Nice looking car articdragon192. I like the whole setup and the new wheels look great. Not sure about the reflective stripe though, as you have such a clean minimal look car and overall theme that it seems to be a break away from that.

Niceee man. Constantly setting the bar higher. Ce28s in white on a white zed look so baller! But did you change your side skirts ?

Have to release more pics of my finished set up, my guard pull would be around the same as yours now and virtually the same offsets/ size wheels :)

  8. Nope, still the 2k spec sideskirts.
Can't wait to see your finished set up.

It looks good except for the guard pulling, IMO it's just going that little bit too far and starting to look not so nicely done. I've nothing against low cars and wide wheels but my personal taste likes to see quality over quantity IE maybe a 6mm spacer on the rear would have netted a cleaner guard pull?

Just my opinion on that particular part of it other than that it looks awesome :) glad to see it's not running stupid camber and 205s on ten inch wheels etc.

  10. Well, my fenders were not evenly pulled, so I had to go past what I already was at in order to even them out. A 6mm spacer actually would have left the wheels a little too sunken for my tastes. Now I can barely fit a business card between the tire and fender. My kind of flushness.
Also making roomm for when I go back to my 265 RE01Rs and camber out once I get my adjustable RUCAs.

    so you could easily make a TE37 11 +18 with 275 tyre fit ?

Also is pulling a 2 seater rear fender different due to the fuel filler position?

From my experience it is different but doesn't mean you can't go as far - you just have to plan ahead a little and use some cunning :)

  13. I've done 18x10.5 +18 all around with 285/30 all around.
I can do an 11 up front with a 285 and an 11 in the rear with a 295. But I don't have the power for it, so I'm very content with 255s or 265s all around. 275/35s are just too tall.

    ok
11+18 with 295/30 is actually what I want
how much would the fender need to come out for this to fit ...25mm?

(obviously cant be pulled that much but cutting /welding will be done)

  15. How much camber you willing to run?

  16. BLACK BEAST

    BLACK BEAST SLICKTOP TT R-SPEC

    1.8 - 2 max ( need traction)

  17. You'll prob need a 20mm pull, and possibly shortening of the LCA to not have to do any more pulling. Either that or run a higher offset wheel.

    BLACK BEAST SLICKTOP TT R-SPEC

I have adjustable lower arms so can come in about 10mm

    te37 only come in +18

looks like a custom 25-30mm subtle widebody is going to be needed

your car looks good ..you always make wide wheels with low offsets look like an easy fit

  19. Thanks! I never realized how much work all the fender modding is until I did all the work over two nights on my friend's TT. And his fenders are still nowhere as pulled as mine.
