Good thinking, seriously. It makes absolute and solid sense. But I think I'm fairly safe.. I figure if anything does go horribly wrong and feels a bit like Space shuttle Challenger.. (you know, the sort of WHOOOSH.. OOH CRIKEY.. KABLAM sort of feel) I've got access to money that I probably shouldn't touch but will in a situation like that anyway..

Oh.. yeah.. I did rip that space shuttle challenger joke from Bottom, if anyone picked up on it..

You've hit the nail on the head. 95% of the time you won't need that money, but it's good to have if you do. Most problems are common ones on these cars which have had cheap or free solutions made up for them (see the tech section for examples ie. broken aerials, bypassing det sensors, *cough* bypassing speed limiter *cough*). If you have a big problem it will be a BIG one, like turbos, gearbox etc. But, hopefully a pre-purchase inspection by someone like ZRATED will pick that up.

Where abouts in Perth are you anyhow?

Ha ha, looks like we are both looking at the same car.

I just got back from checking it out about an hour ago.

Yes, she is pretty sweet, but has a few cosmetic problems. The main thing that I found with it was that it seemed slow. Possible boost leak or compression problem.

My z was stolen about a month ago, and I am waiting on some resolution from the insurance company so I can go ahead. Just my opinion for you - test drive a few other Z's before you buy this one so you can have a better understanding of what the car should feel like.

It feels better than a Falcon, at least :)

The problem with test driving the other Zs that are out there, I'm looking for a Manual, and a TT. on Carsales they have a few Zs listed, however the one we're looking at seems to be the only manual TT there. I figure, If I can't get a Manual TT Z, I might as well try and get something else that I'll like.

*is Edit* I'll rephrase that - As far as Zs go, I'd like to buy a manual TT. As far as any other car goes - I want a manual :)

    Yeah, I understand.

Try to take a testdrive in one of the others, even if it is an auto, you will get a good feel for the accellaration, suspension etc, and at least you will have another Z to compare it 2.

When I bought my nonturbo, I bought it after i test drove a nice looking auto tt. My na actually seemed alot quicker, probably because the tt would have been sick (saftey boost etc). It is always a good idea to try more rather than less, and not let looks fool you.

Anyway, as long as it checks out well, and you have the $ for scheduled maintenance, insurance (big $$$ if you are young), possible repairs etc, go ahead.

    Happy Z hunting, Marco.

    welcome to the forum

i agree with the drive as many as you can before you buy idea, gives you an idea of how a good one will drive feel and look ...etc etc
the one youtr looking at has aftermarket parts,so thats a bonus in my opinion....
even if you donr like the wheels, front bar or whatever you can still swap it over, but the car ahs got a start on it which is nice
