So I was having the time of my life, switching my suedey kinda seats with my leather ones from my last Z. The driver's one is electric, and the suede driver's one that came out of the car only had the electric seat belt sensor.

But the new one won't plug in! They're the same connector, except the one on the seat AND the one on the car are both male. The suede one that came out was female.
    So mad.

What's the best way to fix? I'd rather not start snippin' wires to replace the connector, is there some sort of adapter I can get?

Really wanted this set for the cruise on Sunday >.<

so your old velours werent electric at all? Wouldnt be at all surprised if it doesnt have the loom for the seat motors in it.

Just the electric seat belt connector.
The loom is there for the driver's one, but it's male, and the leather seat I'm trying to put in (full electric) is also male.

The electric seat plug is not the same as the seat belt connector. The plug is a big sqaure connector. My drivers didn't have a seat belt sensor plug only the passengers did. weird

Change the base rails and electrics over from the velour?

    his velours were full manual.
You cant power your seats with your belt sensor. Gonna have to run some wire to your seats. Unless you wanna contact 2 members wrecking those awesome j-specs and get a drivers plug from each, get into jaycar and get some alternate plugs and rewire your seats

    Hrm. I see.
    Is that difficult?
    How difficult is that?
Does it require removal of the carpet? I don't want to remove the carpet, it seems like I'd have to take all manner of interior trim out, as the carpet tucks in under it all. And then to remove some trim you have to remove other trim, and it becomes a big deal.

I think the answer will be to swap the leather onto the manual velour rail. But it only has to be for the driver's one, as both passenger's are completely manual (no belt sensor either).

I've just learned that :< All the twisty knobs to adjust back support and angle and all that aren't on the leather one.
And that's not the only reason.

    Okay. Wiring. Difficult? Extremely difficult?
Looks like I'm sticking with the old ones >.<

pull your centre console. can slide your hand underneath the carpet to where the seatbelt wiring comes through.

Sorry, no idea about the current draw of the electric seat. Stereo supply might be adequate.

Okay then. Is it basically a case of running a couple wires off there and into a plug? Can I keep the seatbelt warning? Where do you get the connector from?
So many questions. I'll start looking up guides tomorrow :)

Stereo power is like only 10A, no hope, seat is 30A.

And has a self resetting breaker, if you jiggle your arse and load up th emotor heavily it will cause current draw to peak briefly, so instead of having to change the fuse it just resets, but has a 30A as backup.

If you were to have a bright idea of changing the stero power feed to a 30A fuse with the lighter wiring, you will be running a risk of fire, especially on something like the seats IMO.

Go have a look at a wreck it may be a sub harness that can be installed or it could be tucked away somewhere, if I understand correct you only have the seat belt wiring.

I'm gunna have a good look under my carpet.
So I can fiddle without risk of buggering the cars existing wiring, I'd like to get some plugs. Something like the plug connecting the centre console big lighter to the actual car wire. Where can I get something like this? Jaycar? Or only other Zs?
