RedZedMikey RZM should now be DZM

Sorry to hear about this experience Sandeep. Long term members will be well aware that OEM water pumps need to be fitted, following problems that members have experienced starting as long ago as 2000. This is mentioned in our tech section http://tech.aus300zx.com/a2z.html about 3/4 the way down the page, under water pumps. Hopefully your unfortunate experience has been read by many members, and everyone here specifies original water pumps. They won't be made by Nissan, but they should be packaged in Nissan boxes for sale as genuine spare parts. I am looking at a new one on my desk, and the castings look very similar. The OEM one does not have NPW or made in Japan on the casting, and the OEM unit has two holes in the body compared to one in the NPW unit. I've attached a pic taken at a similar angle to one of yours.

So now, what does NPW stand for? I'll start off with Not Properly Working :) .

    Cheers, Mikey.

Cheers Mikey. I didn't know about that tech article when I first bought the car. If I had known... I would have made sure that a Nissan Waterpump was used...
Well here's the quote from the tech section which just about sums it up:

Wow, couldnt tell from the first pics that it actually broke at the bearing. The bearing appears to be flogged out though its a bit hard to tell from the pics, could just be the grease making it look like that. Be careful running your car while its got the fan shroud missing (dont run it too hard), makes a difference to the fans air draw through the radiator.

I'm running with a shroud. Joe managed to source me a second hand one. I'm still afraid it could happen again though... I'm taking it very easy on the car atm. But It's driving nicely atm and no strange noises anymore.
