    info

Have to get one of these done by order of the pits.

Now my fuel economy is the best its ever been at 500km around town/highway/and damned M5 premium priced 'motorway' peakhour!!

Has anyone here had this test done. What can be done to have a cleaner result?

I can get 99.9% ethanol from work so would putting a 5 or 10% mix (for one day only and having a max boost of 0psi where possible while its in there) do a significant difference? I have only run tanks of BP ultimate in the car for quite a while as its supposivly cleaner than optimax but BP dont offer a premade ethaol mix. Also is a 95 octane blend 'cleaner' then the 98 octane?

It doesn't blow any smoke and has great fuel economy so maybe nothing is needed to do??? (yes I have proper cats on there. Wouldn't want to be without them!)

This is the last hurdle my car must jump through. Got a nice 'passed' stamp on my inspection at the pits the day before my rego was to be cancelled for uncleared defects! phew! (did not revert anything major back to standard either ;) )

Dont run any ethanol, use only bp ultimate, if you have cats i would expect you will be fine for idle and cruise, if your packing alot of boost and your fueling goes wild on accel, you might be in trouble. i do exhaust gas tuning at work all the time, my car is fine for everything except full boost accel, back the boost right off if you can

oh also make sure the car is right up to operating temp before the test starts, and 1 more thing tht would help, crank a few more degrees of advance in if you can, this will help keep the co down.

    After being told

the stock headlights were not bright enough and needed reaiming, they then complained and said they were too high (funny, they were the best they ever were and could finally see at night :) ). To avoid giving me a defect he was going to change them there. Got a screw driver and couldn't adjust them (not enough room to get a long screw driver and turn them). Said 'We have to defect him, his adjusters dont even work'. I then suggested a 9mm ring spanner and worked like a charm.

They are 'just right' now but I bet I wont be able to see in the dark properly with them anymore!!!!

Also I have no more 02 sensors as I have the microtech. Hopefully that wont kill my chances of getting a pass mark.

mate as long as your air fuel ratio is constant, and not dropping down to 11 or 12 to 1 then you should be ok, at full power my fueling is wild on the stock computer, id fail for sure

I'm glad we dont have this in QLD - i have no charcoal canister, AIVs and doubt how good my cats are if they haven't been gutted! :(

It is probably only a matter of time though :( :( :(

I am sure my Zed would pass

I get over 650km per tank on the highway, so I think the Zed is running really well. In fact, I'd get well over 700km if I really wanted too, but I don't like to run the tank too low.

If I just did highway driving

I could easily get 650km out of a tank. I think one time after doing around 280km I had to squeeze every last drop to get 29 litres in. (and fuel gauge was still a little above the halfway mark). This is better economy than my NA was. :)

Some of my AIV system is gone though. How significant are they to emission control?
