My zed wont come out of park????

    My 300zx wont let me out of park I use to hear a clicking noise when I press brake but didn't hear it today also alternator not working battery was low on power could that be the cause or something else???

    Charger or replace battery and try again.

    Could be parking release solenoid - not sure if Z will have one, but if you can hear clicking sound when break pedal is pressed... Then that must be a solenoid sound.
    And if battery is low on power = not enough power to run the solenoid thus you can't take it out of parking.

    On some cars you can find release lock button around the shifter.

    There is a microswitch on the brake pedal assembly my guess is part of that is broken (it happens with age - like the brake light switch)

    in the short term, pressing the red stick at the front of the gear lever will allow the car to come out of park.

    thanks mate I think you are right I found the release lock button push that down with one hand then I can change gear

    What red stick? my two Aus Spec autos don't have that.

    its in front of the lever mate very small

    Must have been removed on Aus Specs. Just had a very good look and no small leaver.
    T-bar release handle does not require battery power to release park lock.
    My 2x J-Spec parts cars do have them.

    No idea - and not sure if it runs off the brake light switch or has its own switch now that I think of it.
