my zed (90TT) was over heat 2-3 times early on this yr then I decided to take it to my mate workshop to fix it. He pull the engine out and put in all new hoses, radiator, power steering hoses and HICAS lock bar. Finally got my car back yesterday, but the car is different now when the engine runs it sounds like a subaru engine, also, once the car has warm up the stock temperature gauge always stay a bit higher than half ( it shouldn't stay that high right cos a aftermarket radiator should be better). Some other problems like HICAS, Light and Anti-Lock warning signal are on and the car is shaking as well when I drive. My mate also mentioned it could be the problem with the head gasket. I've got no idea what to do ( of course I'll bring it back to my mate's shop) cos I've got not much knowledge about cars. Can anyone give me some ideas or advice.
    Cheers

How bad is the shaking ?

Could be something like how the drive shaft was in you can turn it at 90 degre intervals. This can help line up the drive shaft wich most vibration comes from. It can be shakey coz the drive shaft was ballenced a certain way I think.

Also even a loose injector plug can cause shaking coz if a cylinder is down the engine wont run smooth could be a veriation of things.

sounds like a subaru? sounds like u have a cylinder not firing.
check ur coil pack connectors/ptu for corrosion.
as for the hicas light, top up ur power steer fluid ;)

Very similar thing is happening to me!

As of recent, it would shake on idle sometimes, i dunno wether to laugh or cry but sometimes it sounds like a lawnmower! lol

Worst time for something to go wrong during exam period grrrr....

Initially i thought it was a fuel problem, as of recent just been putting in premuim unleaded into the tank, sometimes it would hesitate, then be alright, but now recently fueled up with BP ultimate, after a few minutes it would run like "normal", this lasted a couple of days, and now the same thing is happening again, you put the foot on the accelerator and it doesn't want to go as good as before, plus its embaressing sounding like a lawnmower lol

Anyone in WA have access to datascan/consult and some free time to check it, would be much appreciated, pm me

You could be running on 5 cylinders...

    intermittently.

If it happens again, unplug a coil pack one at a time... and if there is no change... BINGO :)

In my case it was the connector to the transistor pack
    fixed that

then it was the connectors to the injectors.

I used sim300s technique for finding this out.

    thx guys

I'll try ur's suggestions with my mate tmr n c if it is the connectors problem or one cylinder not working. By the way if it is connectors problem it shouldn't be to hard to fix right?? but if it is sth wrong with cylinder or head gasket do I need to pull the engine out again?
    Cheers
    Alex;)

connectors are easy mate but if you have problems with your head or gaskets your engine will need to come out and be stripped down.

I could be wrong, but if an engine has been overheated, and has been removed from the car, then the head gaskets would be a logical thing to check / change while it's out?
    Especially in the Z32.
That's the beauty of using a mechanic that has familiarity with the cars.

do not want to come over too negative, aj .. but if

your zed went in with solely an overheating issue and came out with a stack of problems, i would be inclined to look for a new mechanic .. not a mate ...

    My mate has checked

all the spark plug n all cylinder are fine, so we are think it could be problem with all the connectors, as he had experience with another Zed with old plug same thing happened to it. so guys would u guys recommend me to change new connectors (how many of should it be??) and can i do it in at home or need professional help. Also, would that be expensive.
    Cheers
