    Hey guys..

my zed is really killing me, after thinking i was all good...

it was smoking from the bottom randomly.... soo i thought u know what ill go have a look, looked underneath it looked like the smoke was coming out of the exhaust pipes... little did i know it was the rocker cover gasket.. as my mechanic told me. the oil is falling down onto the exhaust pipes and creating smoke... its evident as i can see oil spills...

my shocks are leaking oil.... not too much to worry about easy stuff..

power steering fluid oil is pissing out or its just been overfilled? ... need to change//?

how much would u guys say im looking at usually for all this work...

my mechanics a really good guy, trust his work and all.. he quoted me 1000 with parts..

400 labour he said roughly... soo... decent price? guys?

any places you think will do it cheaper..? and are these problems common?

am i better off buying parts myself?
allready made a post in wtb if you guys are interested pm me, im in sydney west willing to travel...

    cheers guys...

killing your pocket at 400... oh dear!!!!

for rocker cover gaskets your looking at a plenum pull. 400 wouldnt even cover the base rate of a stingy mechanic for that.

    DIY time dude.
its a job that can easily be completed in a day. provided you put on some snaggers and beers.

power steering leak is probably a old shagged J hose that runs from the pump to the resovior..

and shocks. well if there original there now 20+ years old time 2 get some new ones . or coilys etc etc

lol sorry for whinging... haha its just that im 18 bought my own zed after owning a 180 with a blown engine ...

$1000 with parts made me cry to be honest..

yeah, my mechanic is a really good guy, helped me out many times.... he was going to convert my CA18det to SR20det in my old 180 with everything manual conversion too, all done for 2000 no bs... SUPPLIED!

so, the power steering thing that u put the oil into (LOL, please excuse my wording its 2am) had oil all over it
opened it up to see it full to the max... so it could possibly be overfull?

plenum pull, haha i cant remember where the pipes would go, im pretty good at opening beers tho :p how deep would i have to go?

hes also throwing in a full free service... sparkies etc if i go for the 1000$ deal...

    decision time?

It is a 300zx thing, all 300zx's from every generation are costly, that's why I tell most people if ya buy a z31 look at spending an extra few grand just for maintenance :D ouchy

the power steering reservoir is looking overfilled due to a possible crack in the high pressure pipe. air is getting in and pressuring the system, to which pumps the oil out of the reservoir. normally a problem with 300zx's. $90 - $150 you'd be looking at to get fixed. pirtek fixed amandas, they reused the old fittings to save cost, enzed is another. or anyone you know that can fix hydraulic hoses.

the seal, well all the 300zx's ive owned and seen have had some sort of leak. old age really.

plenum pull for the seal, some nimble hands for the hose. or just spend your pennies. welcome to the club buddy. heh.

    good luck

Do yourself a favor and pull the plenum yourself, bypass all the water hoses under plenum, replace hoses, fix connecters , replace injector o rings. If you don't you will just pay $1K in 6 months time again when something else goes, its a 20 yr old car....its all in the tech section or organise a tech day at your place
