    Hi guys

Well my zed is finally here in SA. The trip went quite well, except on the first day. Every time I pulled up for fuel, I had coolant coming from the front passenger side of the car. I topped it up as temps never got higher than 95 with a/c on.

The second day I had to top up the radiator with 2 litres of coolant before I continued my journey. After that no issues, even after a spirited run through the flinders rangers.

Monday, I was driving round town and was alarmed to see my temps rise to 110 degrees. As I pulled up home I noticed a trail of coolant for 50m behind me. Was leaking from the front passenger again.

After letting the car cool down I checked underneath and noticed it coming from the lower radiator hose. I went out and bought more coolant and shortened the end of the bottom hose, as i did notice a small split and started refilling the radiator. Coolant was still leaking from that side, so 15mins later the radiator was removed.

I blocked off the bottom outlet and filled with water. The passenger side tank was leaking near the core. Also noticed the top outlet was broken in half.

I ordered a new 2 core aluminum radiator from eBay for $200 on Tuesday and it arrived today from Melbourne. Installed, refilled and now the zed is one happy camper. Even lowered my running temps from 85 to 80. :D

Welcome to S.A. You were lucky to get all that way with leaking coolant and no serious overheating. Pity the leak didn't appear beforehand so you could have put the new rad in before you left. Glad you made it.

seems a litle too hot for my liking. Thermostat cuts open at around 78, normal operating temp is around 80-85, and 95+ is where bad things start to happen.

As for the new radiator, I don't think it will solve your problem. The problem is likely the heater core pipes or the coolant lines which run under the intake manifold (intake plenum). Get that sorted ASAP, the new radiator will just mask the problem if there is still a leak in the system.

All bypasses have been done. Engine was pulled abour 2 years ago and all lines replaced with new clamps. Something me and Benny_C did :)
Old radiator was rodded and flushed about 2 years ago as well.
I only started having this coolant issue aboue 8 weeks ago when I was running a/c with ambient temps around the mid20's to early 30's, leaking from the same spot. Only on short trips tho.
Benny had did have my car for 2 days before zedfest and my trip to check everything was ok, and never leaked once. I do have a definate split on the passenger side end tank.
Saturday, ambient temp was about 30-34 and I was running the a/c. As for Sunday, ambient temps were around 24 and had the targas off, no a/c :D

I have taken the zed for a spirited drive this after noon with ambient temps around 28 degrees and a/c running. Temps got to 88 degrees max during the whole drive. Checked coolant levels about an hour ago, and no change. Still topped.

    Problems Solvered :zlove:

I know it looks like I don't have many posts and seem like newb, I'm just a bit quiet and sometimes I know what I'm doing

I think Benny can back me up on this one? ;)
