Fellow Zedders, I own 95 2+2 aussie-anniversary Z, and am worried about my braking capacity. I have had the car since Jan 29th this year and have always thought they werent very good, but it seems they are getting worse. I recently had it serviced by Nissan at Winsdor and asked them to to check the brakes, and they did and said "this model isn't recognised for great brakes, and yours pull up much better than alot of others we have tested'. (god help the others!) I am therefore seeking better brakes and i dont know much about the technical side of cars so am asking for advice. I have spoken to a friend of mine who recommended that i get NISSAN to check the rubber hose running from the inlet manifold to the brake booster as it may be clogged restricting the vacuam and hence braking capacity. Has anyone got any other recommendations as i am looking for a fast effective means of resolving this. Regards, Charles Chapman.
You might be a candidate for a Chili style master cylinder brace. Contact Chili to get more info. essentially it is a brace that bolts up between your master cylinder and the engine bay frame and stops flexing. Apparently it improves braking substantially... Simple DIY in 10-15 minutes ...
First thing....pads The stock pads are absolute dog crap. They don't stop. Buy a cheap set of bendix ultimate pads and you will feel like you can actually stop again... if you want to send your stomach flying out your windscreen then buy some racing pads like endless, etc.
Bendix Ultimates + Chili MCB >>> >>> around $200 all up worked for me! The Ultimates were from Global - trade price @ $100, but if with RACQ you can buy elsewhere (Repco I think) @ 25% off retail. My next upgrade will be dba slotted rotors @ $320 pair, once existing are sufficiently worn to justify.
