Just finished welding up my new cat back exhaust. A friend with a MIG welder helped me buld the 2.5 inch mandrel bent cat back exhaust. I chose to use a pair of resonators in place of the H-pipe, and replaced the rear mufflers with a pair of shiny dual tipped mufflers. I have never used a MIG welder before, and my friend who owned the welder had never welded with Stainless steel before - so no need to say it, but our welds are far from pretty. hehe. We reused all original hangers to make things easy for ourselves. Im very happy with the end result - noticebly different note to stock without being too loud. It sounds really raw up top under boost. Plus it looks awesome from behind. We took our time to make sure the mufflers hung as close as possible to the rear bar. All up it cost me just over $650, including a big bottle of Argon (which is still 3/4 full), the stainless wire for the welder, welding tips, mufflers, resonators, flanges, gaskets, 2.5" pipe and the mandrel bends. What do you think?

I had the same mufflers on my old zed with a 3.5k stainless system. Sold it a few years back I was told some one bought it down the gold coast way. Would love to see who has it now. Have you seen this setup before?

    Very Impressive!!

That's the kind of look I'd like to achieve too. I'm not one for having piping and stuff sticking out or hanging down and being noticed. Having those nice turned up tailpipes is a really nice touch. Can you cay what the make of the mufflers are? Was the SS used polished or coated?
I wish I could find a quality shop near me to do the same sort of work. Would your friend like to make another set????

    Looks terrific

I'm a bit worried though you might end up with carbon stains or burn marks from the tips being that close to the bar. You could fit a polished square of stainless to protect it, might look ricy though

You would be correct. Scotty and Dave have those tips and dave especially has plenty of fun covering the rear bar with crap.
