why are u pulling everything out including the heater box ? you dont need to do any of that just to replace a core and tap

to clean it all up, make sure there is no corrosion etc on the firewall.

if you have had a coolant leak + moisture. there is some chance there may be some.

I think you are wasting your time doing the heater core, if you are seriously considering removing the A/Con. That decision will knock the arse out of any resale value that you might hope to get sometime in the future(and you really should have used Sikaflex on that vent repair. Far superior to Selleys adhesives). There is one Hell of a high temperature in that location during an Aussie Summer.

Exactly what I did! Can never have enough clamps.

I will admit that I used black sikaflex though. :p

Well I will see how it goes, if it lifts again. will just pull it and do again. =]

I figured selley's qwick grip would be good because I have seen it work well before on plastic vinyl and all types of material. Its also good for staying on your fingers for ages =]

I have never used the air con in 4 years of owning the car, have tested it though, and worked great, but I really do hate air con's, I am keeping everything though, and made sure not to damage anything, so I can always re install everything later =] if needed for whatever reason. Selling my zed definitely is not something I plan on doing either.

But I do know what you mean, that's why I am storing all the air con lines, the AC core, condenser etc etc

    Just to note.

pressure tested my core, and found the leak.

    replacing core and tap.

I found adrad also does the 90's model mirage/lancer core for 160+GST. Or alternatively the zed core for 220+ gst
and there is a shop in Smithfield for all the Sydney people.

also checked and found no corrosion, so pretty happy.
