I have no idea how it was every marketed for the 2K Front Bar. There are at least 6 different fouling points all over. The only issue with cutting them is well, technically I didn't really use all over the supplied kit, so why did I have to pay for bits I had to cut off, sorta thing. As for the cutting, meh, whats a little cutting, no big deal. I don't mind the Ducts overall, although either they need to charge less, or not advertise them as for 2K Bars. Thats all. MoulaZX
Emile - Quick question. Is the AMS piping that goes between the the rad and rad frame oval'd? I believe it is but I guess some people need to see pics to be convinced.
So jschrauwen where exactly did this mystery quote from RevTech come from, you know the guy that needs convincing. The same guy that only has one post on our forum & its about pistons not ams pipes. I see your posting a lot less 'pro ams' posts over on 300zxclub, please dont feel a need to make up for it here.
Yep, they are. I can try to get pictures if you want? At this rate, few weeks. Put 400KM on the engine now. Two real headaches right now. First, it's developed an oil leak. Possibly rear main seal. I recall the Crank had some scoring on it, I was hoping it was nothing but seems it may be an issue. Second, idle refuses to drop below 1300, usually hangs at 1500. Suspecting a vacuum/boost leak issue. Main thing is, she is running and pulling like a train, and when those Varex open up, LOUD AS F*CK! Trying to put together a vid of in-cabin footage too btw. Martin (Anti) & Zac (Hidds) both have come along for a ride and they seem to like where its at so far. (lol @ Zac for thinking it might sound like a Honda with the Varex...) MoulaZX
If its the rear main seal it could wreck that new clutch you have on. If you want i know a guy that can change it, i paid $12 for the seal but it was done with my clutch change so it cost $350 labour ontop of that. PS. take me for a drive, you skirt
I built the thing from scratch minus Engine Internals. Whats dropping a Gearbox to change the rear main seal? lol. It's just finding time to do it now. And relax princess, you'll get a chance soon enough. MoulaZX
So good to read you have her back on the road with some Ks clocked up. Definatly need to get that oil leak sorted, with the amount of grunt that car produces you'll kill a clutch with oil in no time. You have put a lot of time and care in building this for an oil leak to stop it.
I drove it on Sunday Mikey... it's epic. Less than 1/2 the amount of boost he'll be running and it still breaks your neck.
Oh good, I need to know what around 250 feels like, because I'm basing it on whether I use stock turbos or fork out the extra for bigger ones
that was the exact same choice I had to make dude. I wasn't going to go with the new turbos until they came up at an awesome price. 250 rwkw is just awesome to drive, but then again the power was never the issue I had with leaving stock, 20 year old turbos in...
Theres a few factors that make it a little difficult to make a direct comparison. Yea I had ~230RWKW before, but power delivery & torque was very different. I recall the old setup spooled around 3500, power was far smoother up till about 5500-6000, then power felt like it flat lined. Torque is a another big difference. I don't exactly know what to pin it down to or if its a combination of mods, but she feels FAR more torquey off the line and when backing off, and coming back on the accelerator, before boost even has a chance to spool up. The Engine just feels much more beastly. I'm suspecting it has to do with the new engine @ 170 PSI Comp all round, then theres the 3" AlloyToyZ Expansion Dumps (I noticed an instant difference in low-down torque when I went from factory Dumps to the 2.5" Divorced Tuneagent ones) and quite possibly the 2.5" & Split Intake. I recall seeing Dyno sheets a while back on Standard to 2.5" Intake and Torque saw a massive increase. Also since it's not tuned yet, the power delivery itself is not quite smooth. Boost starts to really come on around 4000 (3500 on old setup), then she starts turning into a different animal entirely at 4500 then between then and 5000 you really start to feel it, that sudden change, and it just sucks you back into the seat. Leads me to believe most of the power is locked past 5000 at this stage (untuned) but I haven't been going WOT past 5000 RPM while running her in so I don't really know. Either way, I knew I was never going to match/or have better spool up time of Stockies since smaller Turbos = faster spool, but I'm still happy with the current spooling. And happy to say, smoke is almost non-existant, just a tiny bit on start up which just looks like condensation to me and its gone. So fingers crossed rings are indeed bedding in nicely. In the next few days I'll have 1000KM on the Engine, I think its at about 850 now. At 2000KM I was thinking about getting it Dyno'd to check AFRs are still good. (Oh, and it was on 1 Bar (14.7 PSI) when you drove it, Martin. And I thought you really were making a mess in my seat that night after you mentioned the possibility, lol.) MoulaZX
