Wow what a great trip this ended up being.... it was like a bunch of old mates hanging out for the day.
Got to meet Dean again and a new face Mike from Ritzy Frankston Sth...
Stuart who's getting his Zed fixed up (rode with Cliff) and good to see old "skeg head" Liam again!!
...And Cliff and his Wife and daughter (cute little munchkin).
Got to meet some MC Riders who tagged along too... nice bunch of people!
Brekky was awesome (Bannana Toast n Coffee lol) at the Main St Cafe.
Good atmosphere and service and big servings... then we headed off down to Mornington to take the bay side route along through to Safety Beach... it's a great little road that, when you have it to your self lol! We encountered an old "Bitty" ...bless her soul... doing 40 most of the way through that stretch in her "highly capable of at least 60" Nissan maxima. lol!
It's only a short stretch through there so it wasn't too bad...
Then when we got to the Arther's Seat hill climb event it was great till about 1/2 way up when the rain came and the cylcists decided to ride allll over the dam road like lunatics, I'll let Cliff explain that 1 hehe!
More fooood at the top of Arther's Seat in the nice Resturant at the top...
Someone else from the trip can fill in from here as I don't want to steal allll the thunder ...and rain! lol!!
    Here's a couple of pics

At Arther's Seat and the 2nd shot Parked at Cape Shank (Mick had gone to Sandown to cheer on Graham and Pete at this stage but maybe Cliff has some more pics to share of Mick's Zed)

Overall a great day out with a bunch of nice people!! ;)

    Hi everyone,

Well. The day started off a bit crazy for me. I slept in and rushed out of the house forgetting my wallet, a jacket, SLR camera and to fuel up the Zed.

After picking up Stuart (nizmo_2010), we met up with everyone else for breakfast at Mordialloc. Along with Stuart, we met another new member, Mike (MickyDz). Dean (bRACKET), Sean (TQE-756) and Liam (laam) came along for the cruise and we were also joined by 3 bikes.

My wife met us at the cafe to give me my wallet and then we were off.

Firstly, it was an easy run down to Dromana via Nepean Highway and the Esplanade. Unfortunately we had a pace car (Nissan Maxima) driven by an elderly couple who decided to drive at about 40km/h from Mornington to Dromana! There weren't any opportunities for all of us to overtake so we were stuck behind 'em for that part of the cruise.

Once we hit Arthur's Seat Road and all of its twisty goodness, the weather turned shite . As the lead car (with Stuart in the passenger seat) I nearly hit an oncoming 4WD that veered on to our side of the road and an oncoming cyclist who, also because of the wet, veered on to our side of the road while she was going downhill. We probably missed her by a few metres. Since oncoming cars (and cyclists) were losing traction all over the place, we slowed right down and did the rest of the hillclimb at very SEDATE speeds. Dean also proved the uselessness of his Lan Li brand tyres in the wet - The tyres came with the car when he bought it late last year. It was like driving on ice for him.

After coffee at Arthur's Seat cafe (waiting for the weather to clear), it was an easy cruise to Hastings and the Western Port Festival. Despite the bad weather, it was still good to stop to check out the NDSOC cars that were on display. The rest of the car show was pretty interesting although I can't work out why a Ford AU Falcon station wagon was on display.. I honestly think that the owner decided to put his car on display just to get free parking for the day.

My wife met us at the festival and gave me the compact camera that she had in her bag so I at least got to take a few Zed pics.

Now for the REALLY fun bit! The run from Hasting to Cape Schank was fantastic!! Liam was the lead car and used his local knowledge to show us some good roads. The weather had finally cleared and we had an uninterrupted, spirited drive all the way. 100km/h roads with plenty of curves and NO cars to slow us down. Fun times.

We stopped at Cape Schank to look at the ocean and to contemplate the meaning of life. We ended the day at Rye Pier where everyone said goodbyes and parted.

Thanks to everyone who made it. It was a great day despite the rain.

Now for the limited number of pics I actually took with my wife's camera:

Dean, Sean, Liam and Stuart with Cape Schank Lighthouse in the background.

Liam's Zed (cleaner than last time I saw it!)

Dean's 97 Purple Zed with newly fitted 2K spec lights

Nissan FULL AUTO Matic (Dunno why I took this picture. It's just a cool badge)

Sean's car with newly fitted wing

Everyone! 1....2....3... Awwwwwwwww. How cute.... My daughter at the petting zoo at Western Port Festival.

Unfortunately, that's pretty much all the photos I took. I didn't get a picture of Mike's Zed as he'd left before I got the camera - I know there's more pics out there so post them up.

    Lol... "that thing"

    ...feels great so far.
Although I've only had it up to 14* cough cough at the moment and surprisingly enough there's no extra wind sound.
Handling is great but haven't pushed the envelope yet, I'm looking forward to testing it out some more and I'll let you know! :br:

I swear, one of these days I'll have a clean car for a cruise.

Good fun cruise, not quite up to GOR level of twistys but a lot less people to slow you down.

Liked checking out the cars at the Hastings Day festival, a nice red 1970 corvette in particular caught my attention. Sean and I noticed a few road registered cars with exhausts out the sides, we were confused as we thought they were illegal.

So my account of the day.

Met up at Mordicalloc bright and early, I thought I hit the snooze button but must have hit off, so I showed up a little later than planned.

Cruise down Nepean Hwy all the way to Mornington was a nice slow start to the day, pitty the weather wasn't better as that would have dramatically increased the views ;)

Mornington to Dromana was frustrating as discussed we were held up.

The Arthurs Seat hill climb section was great fun, we were flying up the tight corners until it started to rain heavily half way up, poor timing but we all slowed down, knowing the zeds wet weather handling capabilities.

Headed over the hills through Red Hill to Hastings.

I took the lead for the rest of the cruise and before heading to Flinders I took a small detour down Wooleys Rd near Cerberus for some 100km/h corners. This road was my local twisties as it was only 1km from parents place.

Headed off to Flinders at a reasonably sedate pace as one of the bikes seemed to be having some issues.

Flinders to Cape Schanck, now this and the Authers Seat section were what I was looking forward to the whole day. Some great hairpins and expansive curves all on 100km/h limit but with curves signposted at 40-80km/hr. Twisty heaven.

Quick stop at Cape Schanck for some pics and a chat before taking the back route into Rye to finish the day for most.

Finally after Rye there was my cruise of one to my parents place in Bittern, headed down Dunns Creek Rd (formerly Bittern Dromana Rd) for some great twisties. Had to overtake some cars between turns but flew through it.
Packed my surfboard into my zed for next weekends camping at Lorne.

    Good day :zlove::br:

oh and the angle of Sean's wing is deceiving, it really doesn't look that angled in person, the blacked out tails really grew on me as well. Very unique look. Nice work

+1 on Sean's bar. Looks good in the flesh. Good on him for giving it a go.

Looks like it was a great cruise. Sorry for the no show - cleaned the car on Sat night in preparation, then our puppy kept me up until after 3am and promptly slept in and didn't wake until 9am

Shame you didn't make it mate. Nowhere near as epic as GOR but the run from Hastings to Cape Schank is fantastic.

I came home to puppy troubles after the cruise too! My goofy dog ran into our BBQ and tore his paw open. There was blood everywhere with my wife trying to bandage it and our baby crying

Since the Zed was already out, I laid some plastic sheet in it and drove him to the vet. :br:

He's all good today. Getting lots of attention.

He drooled all over the centre console on the way home. Dogs and Zeds don't mix.

Good to meet you too mate. Sorry I didn't take a photo of your Zed. I only got to a camera after I met the missus at Western Port.

You should post up a thread on your Zed to introduce yourself too. You had a nice looking Zed!

    Cheers.

Looks like a good cruise, sorry i missed it but this tyre joint is still screwing me around, not to mention the issues I'm having with the airflow meter.
Keen to join the next cruise, provided it's not too soon.
