well saturday was dead cold and no sunshine. track temp was something like 15 degrees. what we have discovered is that these conditions are very AMEC race car unfriendly! times were something like 12 seconds of PB!! zero grip and very taily out of the turns.

sunday was completely different, the sun came out and track temp was around 22 degrees. the tyres started to grip again which is a good thing. ended up around 5th in class once again, however this was 8 seconds off previous PB. this can be put down to a combination of cool track temps and no ABS. the car's braking performance really suffered without it. overall series result is looking good though due to inconsistent performances from other competitors in the class.

having no ABS caused brake lock ups to occur on multiple occasions. to tell where I was on track from the other side of the hill, just follow the smoke signals eminating from the tyres. people started calling me "locky". ABS is being re-installed before next round :D PB should then tumble in the warmer track temperatures and ABS enabled braking environment.

Yeh it can get fresh up there anyway it sounds like you kept it on the tarmac which is good.

Stoptech brakes lack feel or something?

    Well Done !

Good to hear Sunday was a little warmer.
You drove about as good as you could, it was like driving on ice without traction. I will try to get you the photos and video asap.

nice job Pete....it will take a while to get used to the car but when you do its going to be awesome

agree with Chrispy, right foot probably lacks feel.

the stoptechs in combination with the AP racing calipers on the back makes it dead easy to lock up the wheels. was locking up fronts and backs at different times.

with ABS, I used to out brake everything on the track. so its coming back before the next event.

    ABS racing!!!

I'm no fantastic driver so I can't criticise but ABS on the race track sounds a bit like cheating:eek:, I guess if there nothing in the rules it's not cheating, make the most of it. What about a bias unit instead of ABS, could that help?

Not giving much away is he :p

C'mon Pete, did the softer rear springs help power down? Was it better than at QR? What does it feel like? And so on.........

softer springs was definately a help. no ABS is definately not a help. so YES ABS is coming back. shorter diff means acceleration is quicker, I now launch in 2nd gear! 1st gear is obsolete.

    Hey Pete

........what size brakes do you have on? I disconnected the ABS when I had the porsche kit on all round, and it was better without it than with it????????? I was out braking the Porsche GT3 and the WRX. Only problem was, I did not have the grunt you have and they left me out of the corners and on the straight:(

I have 4 pot stoptechs on the front and 4 pot AP Racing on the rear.

I would say the ridiculous speeds I am approaching corners at is the cause of locking up Paul :)

    Well....

...let's hope the ABS takes care of the problem. You may need to upgrade to larger rotors and 6 pot calipers on the front to handle your speed????;)

well we managed to pull the shafts out of the diffs so we can swap the ABS rings from the TT diff to the GTR diff.

however one small issue needs to be sorted.

the ABS sensor rings from the TT shafts are too small (but only by a poofteenth) to slide on to the GTR shafts.

so I am going to have the GTR shafts ground down by an engineer so the ABS rings fit on the GTR shafts. wont be long now and ABS will be back :)

Sounds good Pete  no more smoke signals from the back of the track lol :D
Now u need some traction control :zlove::zlove::cool:

had the ABS rings put back on the shafts by the engineers down the street :) diff is now back together ready to go back into the car. I just have to ensure the gap between the sensor and the rings is close to spec, and if necessary, grind away at the mounting points on the diff so the gap is correct. then ABS is back

    Good work Pete :D
Should see a serious drop in ur lap times .
Are u considering the racelogic traction control now?

    regards
