well this has been happening for a couple of weeks, after spending half the day with peter (WYKKED) we have found the car to be missing once it hits about 2200 rpm, (its fine on idle) we have changed TPS, AFM, cleaned and checked ptu connectors, injector connectors, CAS, checked condition of spark plugs, coils seem to be good from visual inspection. run conzult shut down thingy where it drops a cylinder at a time while at idle and all is fine, but when holding revs at around 2200 it shows fault at cylinder 4 and 6 i think well the two closest to the driver. i will be running some injector cleaner through it tomorrow or monday.

please fix up anything ive missed peter.

if anyone has experienced anything like this or has a theory on whats going on or something else to check please share

    most appreciated

    cheers mike

Try another CAS if the injector cleaner doesn't help. If that doesn't help, try swapping the coilpacks around, and test the resistance of them (in the service manaul).

yep will do i will run the injector cleaner then i will check resistance on coilpacks and (injectors)? still have to search that one.. then i guess il try swapping cas.

anything else to add to my list?

    cheers mike

Yes, check the resistance of the injectors too.

I can't really think of anything else to add to the list, you've covered the AFM and TPS, after that there isn't much this side of trying a new ECU.

yeah went for a bit of a drive after i put it in but figured because its only missing at 2200 and up it would be better just idling.

but will go for a drive if you think thats best

Just to clear up a couple of things. The effected cylinders are 3 and 5 and they are fine from idle up to 2200rpm. Beyond that point the R/H o2 reports a slightly lean condition and the car starts to break down and run like crap. The ConZult power balance test when performed at idle shows all cylinders around the 350 mark, but when run at 2200rpm when the car is breaking down cylinder 3 and 5 drop down to 50, while all other cylinders are still high.

Have a look in the service manual (in the tech section or the forum CD). Use a multimeter on the terninals.

ok well measured coilpacks and they all come up 00.9 - 01.0 ohms

injectors were all spot on 12.5 ohms

i think next thing to do will be spark plugs then swap over cas ptu

the injector cleaner hasn't seemed to of done anything so far

    anymore ideas people?

    cheers mike

gonna change spark plugs tomorrow can i use something a bit cheaper than the platinum plugs? this is just for testing reasons if so what to get and what gap?

BCPR6E-11 for NGK coppers, only like $1 each but they'll only last 10 thous kms or so i think. Gap them to 0.8 for TT i think...not sure on NA gap. I've got a gapping tool thing if you want

cheers mate should be right for the gapping tool but if not il contact you.

anyone no the gap for na plugs ?

1.1, it's what they are out of the box (it's what the 11 on the end means). Leave them at that.

    sorry found some more info
Though you can gap yourself with coppers. From what i've read 1.1 is for NA's but i'm unsure. Here's a good thread on the issue anyway so maybe have a look in better detail than i did :D http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=281168&highlight=BCPR6ES-11

is there a tech for testing continuity between ptu and coilpacks?
