Mirror fold-in dodgy.

Another fall-out from the painting debacle seems to be the passenger-side mirror has stopped folding in properly. They pulled the mirrors out to respray them it seems, and I'm guessing they've stuffed something when putting them back together, and it's too late to take it back to them. If I give the mirror a 'nudge' while flipping the fold-in switch is seems to find it's groove and work for a while, then it stops again. It's almost as if it slips off the gears or something? Is there a tech article for getting these apart? Any thoughts what could be going on?

Not automatic, there's a switch for them, but only on J-spec I think.

They're not that cool - until you get to use them in traffic -

to squeese thru a hole that you wouldn't ordinarilly fit thru...

And they may save on fuel if you fold them in along the wighway

So did I. But now that's a problem...

So has anyone actually got anything to offer that might help me track down/fix the problem though!? ;)

No they have a way better use than that...

....you have probably noticed how nicely 4wd headlights shine straight into the mirrors, well having the flip switch is awesome for this. Also good for out in the country at night where people behind you tend to want to use their hi beams as much as possible. I also like to use it with tail-gaters as a physical queue that Im not going to bother watching them.:p

    Dodgy mirrors...

Had probs with mine switching in/out without contact; just turned the switch on/off for a while and she came good. Assumed it was just something getting into the switchgear and causing it to do it's own thing. Not terribly helpful, or scientific...but it worked...

Cool...but can't SOMEONE come up with a mirror (LARGE) that reflects back 4WD headlights at the flick of a switch!!...??

Thanks, but I'm pretty sure it's a physical problem

not and electrical one. The motor whirs everytime, it just doesn't move the mirror. I'm really just after some guidance on how to pull the damn thing apart! Do I have to remove the door skin to get to it?

I use to try doing that with my mirrors...

.... but a few weeks ago I came across someone doing the same thing to me while I was in my fourby. The effect was about as dazzling as staring at the moon . The rear view mirror was the best part of the effect, I thought the driver had a small tv hanging from the ceiling when I first noticed it!

Pull the mirror assy apart and check for damaged/worn gearbox

Jedi had a similar problem and replaced gearbox only with a 2nd hand one I found via Cresta.

Contact John @ Cresta for availability of complete replacement mirror (easiest) in your colour, or relacement parts only.

Door trim has to come off to unplug the mirror loom.
