I am looking at getting my Headers fitted this week, & am wanting to know if there are any Workshops in the Western suburbs of Melbourne other owners would recommend going to take their Z to ? I can't recall reading about any in other related threads.

I know most Exhaust Workshops will fit them, but I am also looking at a good job & reasonable price (not some Z32-pain-in-the-ass-additional-charge)

    Cheers,
    Mike

Joe has fitted quite a few sets. His experience means that he will do the job quicker and better than most. That usually saves money in my experience.

Cheers guys, I will give him a call tomorrow & take the trip down there when it's possible. He is located in Vermont, is that correct ? Same court as Access Autoworks ?

How much did they quote you? When I got my headers installed up here in Bendigo, it cost me like $1350 but that included installing my full exhaust, "headers, cats, x-pipe, magnaflow mufflers, couple of gaskets he supplied, plus he had to make up the remaining system in stainless steel and used about 6m of pipe", he said he did 16hrs work and removing the manifold was an absolute pita...
I think I got slightly ripped, I would have been happy to pay around $1000, but hey it wasn't that much dearer..

He said it would be 4 hours work at $88.00 an hour.. I think Sandeep mentioned in another thread he payed around the $360 mark (correct me if I am wrong) ? at the beginning of the year, so I was happy with that price.

On the other hand, yeah, I would of been happy to rather pay $1000 for what you got installed as well, I suppose if you take the sum of money out of the picture, on the positive side the Z must sound pretty damn awesome now. :D

    Cheers,
    Mike

nah i was quoted (approx 4hrs) like you but ended up going the DIY option with mikez32 and it took us maybe 6-7hrs.. i think it's one of those diy jobs that makes you hate the zed and it's designers for making everything so cramped in the engine bay... but it makes a huge improvement to the way the car drives. much more low down pull in your normal daily driving rev range.

If it was me I would probably jack the car up and drop the engine out the bottom a bit to give access.

That's fair enough dude, at least now you have been there & done that. I've just opted with getting it over & done with, otherwise if I had some days off maybe would of considered the pain / achievement of DIY as well. Nice to know there is a noticeable improvement though.

Hmm, well $360 for a 4 hour job with someone that has done it a lot is reasonable I reckon..looks like it took sandeep almost a days work with help to do it himself..so yeah I can see the 16hrs that the exhaust guy did now..makes me feel better...but yeah after getting the exhaust on its sounds so much better and meaner, that I don't worry about the money..however it's very drony I found..anything below 50km

i cant, theres no way that the rest of the exhaust system took 12 hours lol

Well how long did it take them to put your system on?
I'm thinking it took the guy about 8hrs to remove the manifold and put the headers on (I can understand it would have been a bugger of a job)...and the other 8hrs would have been fitting the exhaust and making the remaining of the system..anyways I don't care, my zed loves me for it :zlove:
