  1. Week 8
    Tuesday
Got my smoked sidemarkers in the mail from Aruba Dave. I can finally take off the totally out of place clear sidemarkers. Also removed the clear rear sidemarkers as well and replaced them with the red ones from my white car.

    Week 8
    Thursday
Did some more work on my fenders. Decided to pull them to fit my CE28s since I had recently gotten an alignment and I had some camber removed. I'm currently at 18x10.5 +18 with 265/35 at -3* camber.

    No more rubbing :)

  2. Week 9
    Tuesday
Finally swapped diffs. My friend needed my stock VLSD since hers sounds like it's about to explode (busted bearings in the differential), and she has a track event this weekend. So me being an awesome friend took mine out, and took this chance to finally swap in the pumpkin from my white car, with the Carbonetic LSD already in it.
I was also waiting on solid bushings for the diff mounting points in the subframe since I didn't want to deal with trying to yank them out of the white car.

Old diff out (still worked, but I missed the clunking :/)

    Condition of bushings
    [IMG]

And the bushings I tore out of the subframe. WD-40 and an air hammer helped IMMENSELY!
They were actually in good condition. Not after I pulled them out though, lol
    [IMG]

Reason for pulling them out? I have solid bushings in the ears of the pumpkin already, and having it solid mounted up front, and not in the rear seemed like a recipe for a cracked housing.

Old, well, new LSD going in.

Close up of solid ear bushings
    [IMG]

Popped the subframe mount bushings into the freezer, some WD-40, a bit of hammering, and boom, in they went.

    Differential back installed
    [IMG]

Mmmmm, throttle steer, how I missed it. Driving the car is so much more fun now with the 2-way LSD installed now.

All that's left to transfer over, mechanically related, are my brakes. Project for another day :)

  3. Week 9
    Friday

Finally got to swapping in my speakers. I bought some Kenwoods from Dane at Zmaxsystems for my white car and I wanted that set up in my new car. The car already came with a system of sorts, but I wanted mine instead. So I go to swapping the rears first.

And I get to this cool surprise...
    THERE ARE NO ****ING SPEAKERS!
There used to be some. There's splicing into the stock harness to power the aftermarket units.

And the enclosures were modified to fit bigger speakers. But, no speaker were there. Cool...

Removed unnecessary wires and plugged mine in.

    On to the fronts...

    Ran into this lovely gem:

More blue painters tape. And a loose crossover. The stock enclosures had also been ripped out, and a 6.5" adapter plate put in it's place. BLAH!!!! Took them both out, had to fix the wiring for the stock plugs, and then reinstalled my speakers.
Didn't leave much wire in the plugs for reattachment, so this is good enough for now.

Also, I always suspected this car had been broken into. First of all, the driver side window has tint, but the passenger side doesn't. Also, the passenger side window isn't OEM.

Meaning it's been replaced. Only reason to replace a window is if it's shattered, and usually that occurs in a break in. Suspicions further supported...

Also found out why my passenger mirror doesn't work
    [IMG]

I also swapped the aftermarket window to the OEM one from my Z. Learned a lot about the whole window/ motor assembly. And I have the cuts to prove it, lol. Had to swap out the aftermarket window anyways because it became detached from the clips that attach that whole assembly to the rails. Nothing works as well as OEM. So that's taken care of as well.

    Week 9
    Saturday
Was bored, picking up my uncle in the pick up area, and decided to check out the map light. The previous owner, or the owner before him, wired in an LED panel, pretty much eliminating the dual map light function and leaving one insanely bright map light that I really didn't like (I'm a fan of regular interior lighting). Popped off the trim to check out the LED panel and boom, I run into another surprise
    [IMG]
Exposed wires!!! Seriously wtf?! I swear this car is an electrical fire waiting to happen. I unplugged the whole light. I'll deal with swapping that assembly later. Now I have to seriously inspect everything that was changed/ replaced in any way or form that it electrically related. Meaning the JD folding mirrors (which don't fold), the power window switch control, the digital climate control, and the dome light -________-'

Also dropped by my TT parts car and took some interior bits. Feels good to have floor mats again. My white car had them, but I couldn't transfer them due to them being tan. Luckily the TT parts car came with black mats so yay! Also took random trim pieces that my current car lacks.

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

Killer progress Ed. What did you pay for this thing if I may ask?

  5. More updates on the car. Decided to tackle some of the electrical "issues" this car has, as well as swap some interior bits over.

First off, ebrake swap. My ebrake is modded so it doesn't lock all the time, perfect for drifting. Uses a "drift button" that eliminated the auto-lock feature of the ebrake (ebrake still locks in the up position, just requires you to pull the knob out for it to lock in place).
Installed. Matches my shift knob perfectly.

Also replaced some missing screws in the center console area. And properly secured the shift boot. Previous owner used screws to secure the shift boot in place, instead of using the plate that is used to hold the boot in place. However, I ran into another gem. I really wasn't surprised anymore.

That's the plug that connects to my power window switch. Cool huh? Wired everything properly. It's supposed to be wired for power folding mirrors, but the extra wires don't really go anywhere. In any case, those are getting ditched for my Ganadors soon.

Also rewired my driver speaker. It would crackle when the bass would hit, and I thought the speaker was blown, just turned out the crimps I used weren't holding enough wire, since not much was left over in the plug. Soldered instead of using crimps and speaker works perfectly again.

Also removed the LED interior lights. No offense to those who run them, but I absolutely hate LED interior lights. I much prefer the warmer feel of the regular bulbs. Took out this mess:

And installed the stock dual light unit from my white car. Now I have two map lights again. Also removed the LED dome light. Didn't like how everyone and their mom can see everything in my car if I turn it on while I'm driving. Stock bulb is now in place, and it dims again. Yay.

Started wiring my launch controller unit as well. I bought some DTM connectors, for quick connect and disconnect of the unit.
Sweet connectors. Super expensive. $60 for two sets. But it'll be worth it and make for a much cleaner install. Still not done wiring everything, but I'll post pictures once I'm done.

Day after, it's pouring, and my car starts acting like it has a wet MAF right off the bat in the morning. Luckily, I have a spare filter and MAF at work. I drive it to work and deal with it there. I swap MAF and the filter, and notice why the filter was so wet in the morning. The nose panel is missing the seals on the top and bottom. So water would pour right on top of my MAF and filter. Replaced the seals. Took them from the OEM nose panel off my white car, and placed them on the current nose panel. No more issues :)

  15. Not a photoshop. Just test fitting my coworker's new wheels
    [IMG]

Well, a lot has happened since I last updated this thread. The car has been painted and I've blown 2 motors.

I finally got the car repainted. I had a lot of stuff to transfer over from my old white car, so it only made sense to respray the whole car. Along with the repainting, I had the body worked on. I pulled the fenders out more to accommodate a more aggressive offset. Now the car runs 18x10.5 +6 all around with 255/35-18s front and rear.
I had my 99 spec sidekirts installed, as well as my Veilside spoiler, my new nose panel, and my Ganadors. The roof spoiler was repaired and painted, but it hasn't been installed yet.
The day after picking it up from paint, I drove up to do a road racing event at the track. Nice way of breaking in the new paint job haha. Unfortunately, starting the second lap, the motor blew. Ripped a hole into the side of the block. The oil pan looked damaged, so I can only assume a damage oil pick up caused oil starvation and therefore a dead motor.
Luckily someone caught pics of my car before the motor grenaded. On to the pics!

Oh yeah, full color change. This color is called Aurora Flare Blue Pearl. It comes on the 2012 Nissan GTR :)

Pulled the motor out and this is the carnage from the blown motor.

I found an NA long block. Apparently it had new OEM head gaskets, but was missing all of the timing belt components, and the intake manifold components. I bought a full timing belt kit to either replace old pieces, or to install missing pieces. Got it all together. Did the motor swap over a weekend, only to have that motor blow 3 days later. It was smoking a good amount, and I figured it was only oil from when the first motor blew. But it guzzled up 3 quarts of oil in 3 days.
The day I was going to look further into the issue, is the day the motor developed rod knock and blew.

I m currently in the process of doing an NA motor hybrid with TT heads. We'll see how that goes.

Looking good! Very pleased you painted it, and I love the colour. Is it purple or blue? Kind of hard to tell?
