and by "inside", I mean the footwell area where it gets bloody hot. Would this be more due to the transmission, exhaust or the engine itself?

I don't really mind this heat, but it does give me a worry from time to time especially when hammering it hard. Would a heat shield be in order?

can't say i've ever noticed my foot well getting hot, even out on the

track in the summer heat. you could be missing part of the firewall maybe?

mine can get warm after prolonged driving >

driving around town i dont really notice it when i have the aircon on long trips it seems to keep the heat down also. dont notice it out on the track either pete is too short of a run i think buy the time it gets warm its time to go back to the pits..

Yeah I have the same problem. Even without aircon and windows down, I can still feel the heat coming up

    Re: Heatshield

Do you get any heat around the g/box side of footwell or centre-console? (please excuse my layman terms)

I noticed when I got my zed that it was really heating up in this area [after solid driving], only to find out my heatshield had been removed.

This was replaced (many, many thanks Chewy!) & now no more heat! :)

    Sometimes its a classic symptom

of the gearstick rubber boot being torn if your car is a manual. Apart from being noisey that area gets really really warm. Used to feel great in winter until I got it fixed.

Yes, it's a manual and the heat is around gearbox area

So it's down to either heat shield or rubber boot. Is the heat shield down by the cat area? i.e. exhaust. I don't have a cat (Legal here in NZ) if that makes a difference. I'm under the impression that having no cat should make things a bit cooler since there's less restriction for heat to build up at.

Yep, mine gets pretty hot down there.

Ever been driving without shoes on, and a little pinky of your left foot slips into the bolt hole on the foot rest and touches the hot bolt...sure wakes you up in a hurry :)
