ok so lately my boost pressure gauge is reading half of normal and not all the time but a few times ive noticed low fluctuating revs on braking/deceleration and on a few occasions stall so far it seems to only happen when braking down from 80km/h. any idea whats going on?
this has only been happening the last couple of weeks

It could be heaps of things. You might have a boost leak, damaged O2 sensors, fouled plugs, loose connectors, etc.

Try doing a boost leak test and chuck your car on Conzult.

Yeh id probably say boost or vac leak, is the idle abnormal?

idle on start-up is perfectly fine its just at the stage mentioned that it decides to go awol, i only just recently installed sub and amp not that i can see that having to do with it, the only error code i get through datascan is det sensor but that was a while ago, ill check again tomorrow and get back to you

and a couple of weeks ago while driving my boost gauge went psyco jumping from -6 to +6 to 0 to this to that to that all in the period of a few seconds while crusing along not even accelerating or decelerating

lol thanks anyway, datascan basically all i use it for is the plain diagnostic error codes and to occasionally check all cylinders are firing

Definately leaning towards boost/vacuum leak, particularly if you're showing abnormal boost gauge readings. In which case, you may be able to even induce your stalling problems if you boosted it hard then let the accellerator off at a guess.

Doing a boost leak test will be a good starting point to narrow down your problem and get back to us with your results. :)

    EF & EC 97

    AAC Valve
    Injectors
    Coil packs
    Fuel pressure
    O2 sensors

    in that order.

Service Manual Section "EF & EC", page 97.

On the bottom of each page in the manual is the section number and page, so that page reference is "EF & EC 97"

But that's out of a 92 manual, so it will differ.

Check the vac lines to the brake booster for splits, etc.!
