pppppff.. that ebay one says its low profile.. but look at the height of the mid section of it.. given the front bar is one of the lowest bits it would be naff all use to us.. hit the bar before it made it to the crossmember

This is a problem I found with a lot of 'low profile' jacks too, the business end was fine but the rest of the jack was a big wedge leading up from there so you could not reach where you needed to be. I found a couple with a cut away design rather than the wedge shape but in the end went for a plain and simple one and will just have to use a scissor jack or drive onto blocks to get it under the front of my car.

If you could lift the whole car at once then your right.

Most people only jack one end at a time.;)

    Low Profile Alloy Jack

    Hi Rob260,

Is there any progress on this group buy?

Or did other members purchase from overseas?

    Thanks.

On a stock car it reaches up to the cross member and can jack it OK

There are better Omega jacks in the US.

    Like this one

This local one may be just what you all need.

Maybe you could organize a GB through this Sealtite mob and get the omega jack that is advertised in the USA? I am sure if you bought a few, they would bring them in.

    Cheap seals

Hay guys, I used to rebuild jacks for a living as part of my old job which I just left.
Now the cheaper alloy light jacks are made in china.. All of them and that problem is that they get any ram size they can get cheap at the time and mainly use a O ring style seal, after about 1-12 months these shit them selfs very fast and the jack becomes useless and costs aroudn $120-200 to repair at a jack place. I used to do many home jack repairs from 50-110 depends what type of seals need, Most of these need a custom seal made to suit due to their size.

Just some pointers NEVER leave the weight of the car on jack over time, Get some stands under there asap, It will prolong the life of the seals.

    So Spandex

Whats the best jacks on the market? Armstong? Thx. I have a TTI Bok choy one, has lasted 3 years so far. My next one will be an Armstrong one, One of the mechanics I work with has owned his for over 20 years and can't stop raving about it! At work we use Omega and Lift tech, they have been goin strong for years. Like you said leaving weight on them kills them very fast. Cheers

If you can get a old 2nd hand armstong then yes, They starting making them out of china in the mid 90's and after that they turned to shiit every since. Very poor seals, Cylinders ant always round, Pump seals die fast etc.

Reason why ANY jack is cheap ITS THE SEALS.... ( to a point, can't compair a 400kg jack to a 12ton)
Good to look for twin pumps, so there is 2 rams pushing into the pump, means when one lets go you can still use kinda use it, and prolongs the life as 2 seals need to die
You get what you pay for. But good thing is almost any jack can have its seals replace with good leather or tuffer rubber cup seals or O-Rings to make them like a jack that costs x3 their price.

So just remember don't go for one just cause they are cheap.
Almost every jack is made in china now, but some are very poorly made.
