this morning through first gear with a little acceleration, heard kind of a loud click/clunk? from the passenger front side, it is constant in time, and is in relation to how fast or slow the car is going, mind you, I have not taken it over say 20-30/km/h, the engine has no bearing on the issue, engine can rev freely and does not effect the noise. The noise almost sounds as if the fan blade was hitting the cover or something else, but a little bit more solid, if that makes sense(The noise definitely is not the fan hitting anything also) Left my car at home, and tonight when I got home Had a quick look. ran out of light though, but could not see anything obvious at this point. Me and pops going to check it out better tomorrow, but figured I would ask on here tonight to see if any one has had a similar issue. I was thinking it was possibly the wheel bearing, but also know that wheel bearings usually make a whine noise rather then a grind/click which seems to happen in a certain spot.
only done some basic testing so far, but when you first take off, does not make any noise, accelerate a little through first, the noise comes on hard and loud, slow down, the noise slow's, does not matter if it is in gear or out, clutch in or out. come to a complete stop, the noise goes, take off again, no noise, accelerate hard again, and it happens again.
check lug nuts are tight, otherwise maybe something in your brake caliper, maybe see if you have no noise at take off after stopping with handbrake instead of pedal.
My money is on a broken/split ball/roller in the front wheel bearing. Failing that, a split/cracked front rotor(or gravel caught behind the brake dust cover and the rotor).
Front wheel bearing & seal will cost about $85 from ConceptZ in USA(don't know what the Ozzie price is from Nissan).
Check the simple things too. Is there a rock in the disc rotor vane that is hiting the cooling fins or calliper. Failing that check the rotor for cracks, the wheel bearing will transfer vidration through the steering wheel, and chew out the front tyres.
Had a look today, could not see anything really, but I gave the rotors a wipe down, and a bit of wire through my disc slots, removed all my guard lining, and noise is gone, but can't say 100% what the noise was yet
