So since I'm going with Black & Orange (same Orange as the Stitching on my Leather Interior) Theme in my engine bay, I'm toying with the idea of Powder Coating Black my Plenum and Balance Pipe.

So wheres a good spot around Sydney to take these and roughly how much do they charge these days? I'm under the impression between $50-100.

The idea is to go for this, except Orange instead of white, and Charcoal Grey for the Engine Bay instead of that sexy, SEXY Red (yes, I love Red...):

End aim is Intake Pipes all black, all Vacuum Hoses & Coolant Hoses Black, just Black everything, with carefully selected Orange pieces.

Orange reference for those curious, (best to look at the Z Logo). This is what I'm trying to match in the Engine Bay:

For powder coating various engine parts, I charge one rebuild :p and return freshly powder coated parts for mantle ornaments...

PRO TIP: clean the parts thoroughly before fitting, otherwise the engine expires very quickly.

The guys that did my ceramic coating also do powder coating. They're based on the central coast but the quality is good and pricing is reasonable... The business name is Procoat, details are in my build thread.

Don't think that plenum's powdercoated, looks more like its painted with a high temp wrinkle finish. I painted mine years ago, black but no wrinkle, & as long as you use the right high temp paints it holds up fine.

edit: actually just looked at his build thread, clicky, & it is powdercoated with a wrinkle finish. Also the photo above is his old plenum, he's done a new one thats had a lot of things shaved on it.

Did not know that... thank you muchly. :)

Thanks for that! Looked it up, fair bit out of my way, but will keep it in mind if I can't get better suggestions closer to home. :)

Hrm. So Powder Coat and wrinkle finish... now how does one go about getting said wrinkle finish?

You powdercoat the finish is how you do it. Not all coating is smooth.

So when I get it Powder Coated, I'll tell them to turn around and do a second coat when they're finished with the first? Is that it?

Powder coating at Penrith is in Coombes Drive, directly behind Boval Engineering(enter via Boval Eng. driveway). They did my UAS Tension Rod Brace.

A good shop will have colored examples. It's one coat... Just not a smooth finish to it.
