ok since the new front bumper being so low I am finding very hard to drive the car without scratching the f*** out of it. I am running stock rims with stock suspension (20 years old). I like the new bumper and after almost 3-4 months of trying to get it painted, fitted and finding the indicators etc I would really like to keep it. [/IMG] I bought 18 inch rims which didn't make a difference as its got low profile tyres on them (These are for sale in sale section) Problem is front is too low I need to raise few inches Solutions? 1. Lift kit? If such thing exist for Z 2. Buy brand new stock suspension spring and hope they are not as saggi as the current ones? 3. 20 inch rims with fat tyres Any thing else I can do?
New standard height springs will help. King Springs should still make them. Could also get coilovers, they often allow you to get quite high. Veilside is notorious for being stupid low.
first of all, no.3 isnt an option because that would be changing the overall circumference of the wheels. Your best bet is to either lift the car with height adjustable coilovers or higher springs or if you dont want the car to go 4wd spec and ruin the bumper in doing so, you can get one of plastic/rubber lip strips that go along the bottom to prevent the bottom being scraped the hell out of.
what about a set of standard springs on the front and 1" - 1.5" lowered springs on the rear? would this lift the nose much? plus you would avoid jacking the car up and looking all SUV like. otherwise get some coilovers and adjust height to suit.
I have seen Jamie running 20 inch on his Z so 3 option is possible but how much lift not sure. Anyone is WA has 20 inch rims I can do a test fit?
no your missing the point with option 3, the idea is you select your new tyres with a similar to stock rolling diametre so it shouldn't raise your car at all. So bigger diametre wheel but with a smaller sidewall. I dont know what its like in wa but in vic I think your rolling diametre can change +/-15mm before its illegal, plus you have the issue of it throwing out your speedo. Your best option is to try new springs.
New springs and then if that isn't enough the next cheapest option is to buy after market shocks such as koni that have a circlip for the lower spring seat, you can get extra grooves machined in to the shock body to give you adjustable height. I did this with mine so I can run kings 30mm lowered springs all round but keep the front at a sensible height (only 20mm lowered). This will get you around any legal issues with coil overs but ultimately by the time you have a new set of springs and new shocks with extra circlip grooves you might have been able to buy cheap coil overs. When you grow up you will want to remove that ugly mo fo front bumper anyway so an option that should be considered is to get rid of it now
Another option I can think of is The lower lip of that bumper comes out which is the culprit but this means I have to move the indicators to the top. (not a big deal other then it will block the air vents a little) anyone see any legal issues with that? but then it will look half front ass bonnet may be I should do a photoshop first

Be very careful with spacers or shifting spring seats, if you get to carried away you could end up with the springs binding. That'll smash suspension parts pretty fast.
half inch coil spacer shouldnt make too much of a difference. doubt the zed would be reaching maximum compression and expansion.... if this was the case. He would have gone with a better bar and not something thats meant to look nice for street cruising... valid point though =) do it once do it right. coilovers.
