Legality of these wheels and how they sit?

I've got 275 x 35 ZR18 Toyo Proxes T1Rs on my 9 1/2" deep dish rears - no overhang (no underhang either), right offset for this wheel on this car, fully legal. All worked out by the tyre supplier using QLD Dept of Transport guidelines and the ADRs (he would not fit any wheel / tyre combination that did not comply). Some slight touches on a bend in the passengers side exhaust pipe due to HICAS, but the exhaust pipe will be modded in my planned turbo upgrade.

Can you flick up a pic of the flaring? I'm going to need to pump mine out 25mm for the next set of wheels, so i'd like to see what your's looks like.

technically speaking 18's would be a defect item unless you have a tyre plackard from a zed that had 17's as standard

    hey mate
have a look in here, if you want to get those wheels sitting close to flush that would be the only place i would recomend to ask how.

have a look at some adjustable camber arms and what sort of suspension are you running atm?
if your sitting on coils i would say lower a bit more, the camber from lowering the car will bring them in a bit.

but yeah, adjustable camber arms will allow you to dial in/out the camber so they will sit as flush as you like...
    forget the haters....

I think you will find the law states NO part of the wheel can protrude past the line of the guard - that includes the bottom you goose. Adjusting the camber just makes it more illegal.

The idea is that wayward pedestrians will contact the guard before the wheel and therefore not have their legs ripped off by a spinning wheel.

By the way -why are you still here?

Im running tuneagent castor/front camber/ and rear camber arms with
    Tein Flex r32gtr coilovers

and its running -1 or something camber, guy at tyrepower said its the best to run for longest life out of tyres.

ill post up some pics when i get the chance, i think flaring 25mm will be almost impossible, as the inside of the rear guard is a double layers steel.
and there is only about 70mm of guard before you hit a right angle you cant flare past. but would be worth a shot.

my paint cracked a fair bit when i did it as its been bogged previously, and chuncked off a little, but ill post up anyway, still needs another roll though

Regardless of whether you flare the guards or not, the rear rims are illegal!
You can go 2" larger in diameter & no wider than 1" in width.
So the maximum diameter would be 18" & maximum width would be 9.5".
There is also a specification on track width, accounted for in offset.

According to this booklet put out by Queensland Transport, we are not limited by rim size as long as the over all diameter does not vary by more then +15 mmm or -26mm, and the tyre rim combination meets Tyre and Rim Standards Manual published by the Tyre and Rim Association of Australia.

Tyer width can be a maximum of 1.3 times the manufacturers largest optioned tyre, so 245 x 1.3 = 318.5

Page 10 -11, heaps of other interesting reading in there too .... WHAT no NOS

nice and mature as always barry.... last time i checked this was a public forum and i have as much right as you do to use it, so stop beating your chest and stop posting the useless shit you always do when ever i make a post, it dosnt add anything usefull the the thread at all so why post.

i'd post the specs on those wheel/tyre combination's but barry would prob start throwing around stupid comments and end up slipping a disk or something.

as much as i know these sort of things are illegal, they wouldnt be sold here if they were not safe, so yes, some things shouldnt be done for completely obvious reason but if someone is going to make contact with that part of the car i dont think getting hit by a metal guard or a wheel would make that much of a difference.

    your ****ed anyway...
its all part of the import ownership modification scene, if you dont like it, dont take part in it.

that whole thread is full of awesome fitment, check it out

    Just a few notes

but you said you were leaving forever. Damn, mislead again. Isn't there a S13 group you should be annoying?

It doesn't add anything useful? Whenever some misguided fool posts such dangerous, ill informed rubbish, the more responsible of us think. What happens if some Newbie down the track uses Search and finds that crap? If it remains unchallenged, then he or she might think it is actually proper advice, which could ultimately cost them a great deal of money.

    You are kidding right?

Perhaps you should contact the authorities and point out where they are going so wrong.

it has absolutely nothing to do with pedestrians at all you idiots rofl, since when does someone walk into the side of your car whilst driving

1/ Its because if the tyre/wheel protrudes from the guard ,it allows stones and mud to flick up at cars therefore causing a dangerous situation

2/ its to prevent the tyre from coming into contact with the guard also causing a dangerous situation

I suggest you both go study the road laws
