just been on the zcentre website looking up some aesthetic improvements for me zed and noticed the '99 spec H.I.D. headlights. now i had a look through some of the other posts regarding hid light kits/conversions and that they are apparently not legal, so what goes down with these. ive seen a lot of the new BMW's and merc's etc. come in with xenons standard and now a lot of cars are offering headlamp upgrades when you buy em new, so fitting these lights and then running the car over the pits when i have to relicence it... will it get through? http://www.zcentre.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?cPath=21_24_55&products_id=225 personally i think with these lights, side mirror indicators and the 99-00 spec bar with modified indicator would give the car a bit more of a modern touch, just a bit of an update... although i think i might try and find some cheaper anywayz feedback welcomed.. cheers!
Pretty sure the HID's aren't technically legal because they're not auto-leveling which adr's require them to be. Having said that cops/testers would have to be pretty switched on to figure out you're not running the factory lights?!?!
yer... if i rock up to a busy center like welshpool i might get away with it 'cause there not gunna be paying too much attention
Had my 99 spec headlights for a while, they work great. Cant see why they wouldn't be legal as they are factory Nissan parts.
John you been doing roll backs at the boat ramp again mate testing out the quaife. It would be an ADR issue thats it. Whatever wasnt originally on the car from factory technically has to be engineered and ADR approved. Goes for suspension mods wheels, clear side indicators just about every aftermarket part you can think of should technically be ADR approved but they only go after you for the very obvious like suspension seats big wheels etc so should be pretty safe with HID lights as I didnt even notice JT had em till he just posted he did. Go figure J
no after market headlights even compare to the stock z headlights. i was thinking about getting these lights at one stage but only for the sake of modifying my car, just for something to do, but then i realized the originals just look so much better, but thats my opinion
nothing can beat the Xenons (factory that is) but John the Xenons arnt legal in Australia as they dont have auto levelers that ADR want on all factory Xenons. But all the same my car went through a roadworthy with them in and he just said "I didnt see them ok"
Well you do learn something knew everyday, i didnt even know the xenon headlights would be illegal(techinqually). but as you guys have said it wouldnt hopefully get noticed by lawenforcement people unless your unlucky. I am planning to get this babies for my beast one day in the future as the cost for them is 1/4 what i paid for my car. http://www.ttzed.com/products/produ...569&page=1&title=OEM Lamps & Lights&do=detail TTZ have them for $2,854, so they are quite an expensive mod. 1day tho.
They sure look nice, but.. .. does anyone else think they give the car a cross-eyed look? Something about the arrangement of the lens patterns.. who knows?
hmm... so what exactly are/how does auto-leveling work then? JT ya car looks good with the '99 bar and indicators eh
Not at all ,they make the car look so much better. best upgrade that's for looks aswell as safety:zlove:
They look pure class to me, real nice upgrade. Although for nearly $3,000 your money could be better spent elsewhere.
