A great day, huge turnout of all different Z's. Spotted some forum members, and a it was great to see some 300's mixing it up on the track. I'm sure others will have more to say but I thought I would throw up some photos. These are just quick uploads from my phone camera. More to follow (and better quality) When I get around to sorting though my proper camera... Some forum cars Some track shots Some pit lane photos Some older Z's
Aza, Lowie and a guy named Mike were all racing 300zx's. Was a great day pity we had to leave at lunch Lots of cars and I believe BlueZ has some pics
yes was a good day first time at lakeside and found it very interesting, i took it fairly easy on my first season only did a 71 i think then second run put the foot down more and managed a 68.75 was semi happy with that and it ended up being my best for the day, by the 4th run i was doing constant 69's so with some more practice should be able to shave time off its finding the limits of the car around the corners and should be able to shave a few secs off, oh ash you missed out on the passenger runs around the 4pm mark and they didnt even get people to wear a helmet lol ive got some in car footage but there is way too much vibration to worry about uploading it at this stage. anyone know or a program that may help with this? adobe premier? drop some frames to help with the vibration?
It was a fantastic day with a huge turn out of various Z's. Mostly 240z's and 260z's but with a couple of 280zx's, 300zx and 350z's along with other makes. One 240z was sadly the T-bone victim of an old Lancer that lost it at the top of the Eastern Loop, damage to left hand door and B-pillar. Great to see some photo's, hope there are more. My first time ever on a track and got down to 74.71 sec on the 1st lap of the 4th run. The following two laps were 75's but was only running on 5 cylinders (coil plug worked loose), so like to think I could have knocked another sec or two off. Had a great tme chasing down the two 350z's. The SAW worked well once I figured out what I was doing (ie. picking the gear you want before entering a bend or incline) but need to look at getting a fan specifically for the trans cooler. Found out just how old and worn the brakes and suspension really are with lots of vibration under heavy braking, and 235 street rubber just does not work for a TT on the track (even an auto) Mike
I was forunate enough to attend the event for the first time and I was very impressed. A lot of Z's and a few Z32's as well. I managed to get around to talk to most of the drivers including some of the rich Porsche GT3/GT3 RS owners :zlove: Lucky buggers They say a picture paints a thousand words, so ill just do that, was never much a novelist anyway. More pics can be found on my Facebook Album: Lakeside 2010 Z Track Day Photos on Facebook Feel free to add me on Facebook to. Name: Adam Wilshire As for the photos, they were taken off my phone but turned out ok anyway:
Glad you all enjoyed it, we, the Z Car Club Q, are looking at running an entire event next year. QR were pleased with the way it all went too so it probably will be a joint effort with more than just sprints and passenger rides. The only disappointing aspect was that Nissan contributed absolutely nothing, even though they were invited and we provided two bays at no charge for a 370Z display car. Seems like they try to sell cars the same as white goods, brand building is irrelevant.
thanks heaps... I was after forum members names actually. but thanks for your contribution douchebag.
Photo Update Here are some more photos........ I believe most if not all are forum cars. Enjoy, more to follow including videos
After seeing photos of my car in its current state I have decide that Its finally time to get my arse into gear and give it the respray that Ive been yapping on about for ages. That is just disgusting considering it used to look like this..... BRING ON THE BEIGE!!!
