Gday, Anyone lounging around sunday arvo would have notice the 300 zx on speedweek. Does anyone have any information on the zed driven by kerry bailey in the tranzam sports cup. i know its a chev 6.0lt V8. but anyone have any pics or further information. looked nuts on speedweek. Cheers -Pete
Very Fast Car, but >> the only thing Zed about it is the sheet metal/fibreglass body streched over a Space Frame Chassis. When you get up close & have a good look at this vehicle, its very rough, but also very fast. Cheers Kerry
I've got some pictures......>> A couple of years back I was responsible for scrutineering that series at Sandown during the V8s. I got to get a few pictures and actually got to chat to Kerry for quite a while over the 4 days. Hard to take a good moving photo when they travel that fast. Now THAT....is a WING. And the money shot. A little bit of fame for the Association.
cheers lads well it looked nice on speedweek. cheers for the pics and info lads. even though it is not really a zed, we can claim it as ours and im proud to see a zed out there.
Have a look on the NSW Sports-Sedan site for Derek Bailey's Zed Click here and go through their Photo gallery. And there's some good stuff on the Racephotos site
Here's a few I took at Sandown over 2 events ... In the 3rd one I think the guy with the green hat is our very own Wykked on scrutineering duty :thumbsup:.
So was this racing in this years TranZam series??? Last year Kerry copped some fairly severe burns in an incident with the 300ZX - I hadn't heard if it had been rebuilt, or if he had fully recovered and was back racing again. I hope that he is and it was ... I am guessing that Derek Bailey (see red32's post below) is no relation to Kerry as their surnames are spelt different, but Derek probably is a relation to Graham Bailey who won Bathurst in 1986 or 87 with Gricey, also sponsored by Chickadee Chickens.
what is it with you guys and green??? you have the funky green "lepricon" shoes and pete has a green hat.... next you'll be wearing green body suits or something...
Yes the car was rebuilt after the fire --- and is now sporting a fantastic paint job which was referred to as "snakeskin" its maroon I'd say with a fantastic pattern. He didn't do as well as he'd like but its early days yet.
It wasn't by choice.......>> That year the Officials hats were green, last year they were black and orange. I have no idea what they will be this year. The best one was the Konica series hats which were blue with reflective bands on the brim.
I've got some pretty good ones of it in the pits at the LeMans in Adelaide in 2000, but I've run out of pic hosting space. I have 12 or so photos, probably around 2 meg in total. I can email them to someone if they've got space to host them.
Email them to me Dave, I've got about 12mb up my sleeve. I was at the Adelaide LeMans race as well, and I think that was before I'd met you - I hooked up with Trev outside the backpackers place I was staying at. Gawd knows where my pics are from that event, but they were negatives anyway. Cheers, Mikey.
OK, will email the "Z" ones off tonight. I have about 60 digital shots from the event, but unfortunately, no good track ones. Do you want me to bring them to Melb? Looks like I'm picking up some oil and a filter from you to bring back to SA too.
