    Hi guys and gals.

Been wanting to get a 300zx for a long time, just never had to money to do so.

Been reading the forums for a while and finally decided to join, seems like a great community.

The car does need a bit of work, but i'll post what I need in the wanted section and see if any SA members could come help me in exchange for some beers and a barbecue as I am new to these cars and while i know a bit about fixing cars myself these are a whole different beast and I know little about how they go together.

Anyway hope I can make a few friends here and i'll end with a few photos of my car.

    Welcome aboard Matt.
You will be spending quite a bit of time on here from now on.
Nice looking car, I see it's one of the fast ones(RED).:p
It looks pretty clean in the engine bay, so that's a good start.:D
    Cheers

    Welcome!

2nd on the clean engine bay, and you managed to buy a used Zed with a passenger cowl? Lucky!! haha

I see your bonnet has been rubbing on the radiator support?

And whats this I see? Water or Methanol injection?
    Or are you running NOS?

    Thanks guys.

Yep Water/Methanol Injection. Haven't had a chance to test it out yet. Running on stock boost until I get her fixed up.

She was sitting in a shed for a year and my distilled water is still coming out brown after 4 flushes and the engine oil is black as the ace of spades. I'm just glad she made it the 100km's home so I didn't want to push her too hard.

Yeah bonnets been rubbing, need to take a look at that. The radiator seems to wobble a little too so i need to check the supports.

Its alittle odd for someone to mount the nozzles to rubber boost pipes.

Id be concerned about them leaking on boost or popping out when the tb's close.

Guessing thats what the cable ties are for :D

Welcome to the disease we call Zed ownership, hope your not married, because your red mistress will be very demanding , if you are married buy the Wife lots of nice pretty things and suck up BIG TIME. If your not married,be prepared to be broke for a long time lol .

Other than that enjoy, nice car very clean.

Yeah I am engaged lol, thankfully I am self employed so I won't be driving it as much as some. I reckon I will only be doing maybe 5000 - 10000km a year max.

Engine has only done 130,300 and the previous owner looked after it very well before it was garaged. I just have to fix a few things and then keep an eye on common problems.

Yeah I thought the mounting of the methanol injection was a bit odd, will have to see how it goes I guess and maybe see if I can find a better way of doing it.

I can do a lot of mechanical work myself so that should take a bit of pain out of the cost of things.

I plan to spend a lot on her as time goes on, including a full respray as the paint is fairly worn which is hard to see. I plan to keep her for a long long time and want to get her looking like new.

I do have 1 small rust bubble near the rear light to fix and after a good wash I plan to spray the whole undercarriage with an anti-rust solution, unless this is inadvisable on these vehicles?

Previous owner said it was Dyno'd at around 400whp at 14psi but he couldn't find the papers so i do plan on getting a dyno run to see what she is at after i get everything fixed. :br:

Thankfully she has a lot of the mods I wanted to do already done, so I can spend the money i planned on mods on fixing her up 100%

Thanks again for the warm welcome

Well that 1 small rust bubble turned out to be a big rust patch behind the rear brake light section, thankfully i do have some experience fixing these things to a fair standard until i can afford to get it redone professionally and painted to stop it getting worse.

At least it is all in the hatch, so worst case scenario... I buy a new hatch.

  10. Greetings Matt,
The car looks pretty nice. The interior looks like it has been kept pretty well, and the engine is pretty clean. Well done, nice find.

Cool, seems to be a lot of Zeds up north, but I have maybe seen 1 once or twice.... odd.

Mine needs a respray too, but I have to grind back and treat some rust first and I dread the cost.
