So I am finally at the stage of this motor rebuild where I am trying to start it up. It's all put back together for the first time in almost 2 years. We drained the gas that I forgot about and then put a fresh 3 gallons into it. I filled it with the rest of the fluids. I put the key in, turned it, and got nothing but cranking. I noticed the fuel pump is not priming either. I thought it might have been the gas that has been sitting but now I'm not so sure. I tried to run an ECU diagnostic but it is giving me problems. The red light is on but it won't go into diagnostic mode. My Blazt is not connecting to it either. I changed out chips with a spare but I still have the same symptoms. I have a friend who is going to let me borrow his spare ECU tomorrow. We also noticed that my CEL is not illuminated. At this point, I don't know whether my ECU went bad on me out of nowhere after sitting for 2 years or if it is something else.
Process of elimination. Work your way through them & you'll finally get to the bottom of it. Start with the basics. You need air, fuel, spark and compression. All of which are easy to test. Doesn't help your ECU is playing up. Good luck, you must be keen to go for a drive in it.
It's always nice to know you are an idiot! All my woes were due to a connector I forgot to plug in. It was the white connector down by the ECU on the EFI harness. At least now I know (at a minimum) the fuel pump and ECU diagnostics are inhibited without it being plugged in. She started up just fine about 15 minutes ago!
