So my zed has been having a problem which I've slowly been trying to troubleshoot. It smokes bluish smoke that reeks of fuel, super rich, and its only running on 5 cylinders. Cylinder 2 is the culprit. Swapped over coilpacks and sparkplugs (which the cylinder 2 one was soaked in fuel) I even soldered on a new coilpack connector to see if that was it, but still no luck. the coilpack from cylinder 2 fires in other cylinders and even when I take it out and put another plug in it and spark it to the plenum it fires. So what could be the problem here? I have also grabbed a lantern battery and touched the injector with two wires and the injector clicks fine. With the car running I can unplug and plug back in the coilpack connector and the engine doesn't change idle, tone or anything. But doing it to any other coilpack gives the obvious response of not firing there anymore. If there are any Zed magicians on the Gold Coast that wouldn't mind giving up an hour or two to help me troubleshoot my zed that would be great. Beer supplied for extra brain power. Car is a 1991 2+0 NA.

First thing I'd test is continuity from the coilpack back to the ecu. Sounds like you have a broken wire somewhere.

How would I go about doing that? And I can unbolt the coilpack from the plenum, and put a spare sparkplug in the coilpack and it will spark against the plenum, so it is firing

First things first; punctuation. I get that this isn't school but please use paragraphs etc so as those of trying to help you have some hope of understanding your problem.

If I've understood correctly it seems we have the following symptoms

-The car is burning excess fuel in the exhaust
    -Cylinder 2 is not firing
-You have established that you have spark on #2 coilpack and that #2 injector is opening

It seems most likely then that the injector on cylinder 2 is leaking. I would remove the plenum, remove the fuel rail, and have the injectors serviced including new o rings and pressure test prior to re-installation.

Agreed, misfires don't usually give a heap of smoke, probably leaking injector or o-rings.

Can't get it that far unfortunately. If I was able to get it to Varsity even (8 minute drive) to All Performance Garage I would. But it smokes way too much and it has a gearbox issue

If cylinder 2 would be the case of all that smoke you would have smoke coming out of only one exhaust side.

Previous owner converted to single exhaust. Planning to go back to twin exhausts

    Compression test

Compression test the engine when it is at operating temperature.

"It smokes bluish smoke that reeks of fuel, super rich, and its only running on 5 cylinders."

Bluish coloured smoke normally indicates burning engine oil.

The strong fuel odour indicates unburned fuel, which could be related, as others have suggested, to a leaking injector which could be identified by a fuel pressure test.

Perhaps it is related to a leaking/damaged exhaust valve or valves.
