couldn't think of any 'A New Hope' puns. Big thanks to Jedi and his friendly (if somewhat diminutive) family As usual plenty of Z's and pizza to go round and great hospitality. I don't take any pics so Jedi come on buddy..... Ben
great day... thanks mark got there a little late but managed to squeeze my way through the zeds and have a chat with a few members and put a few faces to nicks. diminutive <== for those like me requiring a dictionary, that means small : p look forward to the next tech day... I'm defiantly a permanent tech day person from now. Hopefully next time I can get something small done like a timing belt : p hehehe EDIT: PICS PLEASE...
yes thanks to jedi and his family for a great day and the pizza ive got a few pics but they are 2mp quality
I must add my thanks to Jedi and Family for a great day. Lots of great Zeds and great people that drive them. I managed to get a bit of garage time which helped me sort out a few things. First I had a boost leak test done only to find immediatly that one of my hard pipe clamps had slipped off on the drive over. I leaned not to use dishwashing liquid as a lubricant to put the silicon couplers on .. doh. 45 mins later i managed to get it all done up. Still a minor leak somewhere near the drivers side turbo, that will have to wait. I then started to fit my Rear Upper Camber Arms from the recent group buy with alot of help from Pete (Wykked), thanks mate much appreciated. I only ended up getting one on cos I was missing the 2 metal spacers on one side. Which I found later... eventually. I have a 3 year old son, he likes to play with Daddy's tools and car parts. I searched for an hour to find these damn spacers and eventually found them inside one of my computers (luckly its not plugged in) see pic. Seems he was "posting" stuff through an empty drive bay. I also got to install my Stainless IAAV pipe which I got from Smithy group buy. Cheers Stu
Jedi Tech Day (with pics, dialup will cry) Ummm, well cant think of any more starwars puns that run in a consecutive order so I'll just call this one Jedi Tech Day 4 - "Revenge of the Zed". Well, the day started early for me (early for a sunday). Up at 8am. Getting the garages ready, the family cars out of the way, the drinking and eating facilities set up, purchase of ice etc etc... doug (red32) and nathan (zanjara) + his girlfriend zoe were the first to show up, followed by MickJ. Nice and early, but thats never a bad thing. I was wondering how many people would have forgotten to change their clocks the night before for day light savings and turn up an hour late.. A few others trickled in and then the zed convoy from the east arrived, led by the WYKKED mobile. A noisy bunch they were as they could be heard coming from down the street, but the sound of burbling VG30's is always pleasing to my ear.. Everyone assumed the usual parking positions which has become quite default and almost inate to many of the vic crew, and the new guys were good at just following and doing the same. After a bit of chat, didnt take long to get to work. Record time in fact, Ngoc (Noxter69) had only been there 10 minutes and was already looking for jacks and stands to get his car into the air. And so it started. Noxter69's list for the day included an oil change, brake pads (I think) and later a wash... and why not, the weather was fantastic. Graham (tektrader) using my ghetto funnel (an old coke bottle) to add oil to noxters engine. Here are just some random pics of the day..... Roys sexy lcd setup.... Pete thought he needed a name tag incase people didnt know him Corner blocks means you have more room to park zeds Just hanging around.... Graham getting to work on patricks car. Check out those glowing legs.. Jack (zxtt-1) telling us how he's replacing his HPC coated balance pipe with a shiny new chromed one. Of course, I have no pics of the shiny chromed one.. The lads on patrol.... checking out some zeds.... you know... Mikey had lots of goodies in his boot. One of which was his new 2000 spec rear centre panel. very nice. Here's one for you mikey. Record of when your zed ticked over 200K km's... Warren (waz32skyline) arrived in his dads corvette. Needless to say, it got lots of attention. But he says that us jap car owning people are quite spoiled. The vette is clunky and uncomfortable. Still looks awesome though, and the sound of that V8 is fantastic. We tried opening the hood to examine the american engineering. But the hood was jammed.. That caused a few giggles.. Pretty soon the natives were hungry and as usual the pizza run was done. Big thanks to Blondie (jen) and my sister for organising all that.. Great job. Lots of pizza, drink and garlic bread. And nice weather. Brilliant! Camry's are great for picking up massive pizza orders... After lunch, just a quick photoshoot of everyone. Well everyone that was there at the time as we had some late comers in the afternoon, didnt we max? After lunch, back to work... Ngoc ended up washing his car and grahams.. Must have been payment for the oil change.. Stu and pete tried installing some control arms I believe, but I think some components were missing. Bugger, back on with the originals.. Audio installs and examinations occuring on the driveway.... Mikey back into it. Changing pads I think, with help from simon... and he ever only washes his car on tech days... Some cars had their timing checked and subsequently adjusted. Quite a few were out, some way advanced. Scary. As usual for tech days, pete was doing lots of boost/vacuum leak testing and conzult/datascan analysis on peoples cars. "Shhhhhhhh everbody........listen for escaping air" In hope of curing his oil burning issue at track events, ben installed an oil catch can into his Sky80.. Rodd (Datzboy) is an ebay junkie. Anyone ever seen a zed ashtray? All in all a great day. We had some bogans do some drive by burnouts which were amusing as they tried to show their superiority, and a car of misinformed girls who yelled out "buy a holden, their better".. Thanks to everyone that came and especially the members that helped out and fixed things. Thanks to my folks as well for all the catering stuff.. Look forward to seeing you all at the next zed event.. And I must say, a big congratulations to both pete and Jen.. They can elaborate on that if they wish.. Cheers
Before I forget, who owns these tools? Have some spare tools left over which arent mine or any member of my family.. Belong to anyone? I'll take them to the calder event tonight and also at the upcoming sorrento cruise in a few weeks. Or you can pop by my house to pick em up.... Cheers
Great pics Mark Looked like a fantastic day. May the "farce" be with you:thumbsup: And just what is all this congratulations to Pete & Jen?? This is the second post where it's been mentioned. Patience is a virtue I suppose. I'm sure all will be revealed in due course. Cliff
Great day (again) Mark. Pity I had to leave early (work) And yeah, some of the timing settings were scary... mine was at 32 degrees!!!!. No wonder it pinged, even on Ultimate. Reset to 15 degrees. Thanks again. Edit: After two days, I decided the car was running like a pig! All the "get-up-and-go" had got-up-and-went, idle was fluctuating 700-300rpm. Bit the bullet and set the CAS to about half-way which should be about 20-22 degrees advance. Much better! Have to buy myself a timing light so I can set the best advance for drag days, then reset for good running afterwards!
Re: Before I forget, who owns these tools? Ahhhh is that where my 1/2 drive socket handle went !
It was a great day first tech day in my zed and really the very first day people have seen my zed out. before the tech day was sitting at my mechanics for about a month and a half best thing was it was out of the rain h ehe damm leaking taga tops! Re: Pics of the Zanjara-mobile Looks like a great day. All you need now is a pair of party animals like KZED and Zed4life to get a bit of funky action happening, and you'd have it all:wacko::wacko:
re: Pics of the Zanjara-mobile Sweet thanks mate!! yeah my car is the pearl white that was parked out the front hehe i need to adjust my drivers door tho. Nath
You forget we have Graham (Tektrader)!!! Hours of entertainment just watching zed owners faces when he gets under their bonnet!
Damn computer virus!!!!! I couldn't log on for two days it's still sick. I just wantb to thank MArk and his family again for their hospitality, and i can definatly say that from now on i will go to each tech day, it was awsome meeting fellow zedders.
4th Instalment of Mark's Tech Day - Revenge of the Zith... I had to put that one in... So much for the forecast of a few showers on the day, I got slightly sunburnt! Mark's annual Tech day is a great opportunity not only for sharing Z32 knowledge but also for a social get together. A big thank you for Mark for organising the event and of course for sharing his home to the rest of us. Make sure your new place has a 4 car garage OK. A big thank you also to Graham and Mikey for fitting my pads and re-filling the oil... Now all it needs is the overdue 100K service. Might get that done at 110Ks (gotta save up enough dough to go to Hawaii soon).
