this is sort of a no-brainer but I want to be 100% sure so I don't **** things up like that bastard mechanic did to Attila's Zed

what are the correct jack points for a standard scissor jack on a Z32? Pics would be nice, the ones in the tech section are dead. Got these big ugly dents in my side skirts (behind front right)... jacking point or damage from previous owners? what about the rears?

spraying my brake calipers. never needed to know before 'cause I don't have an inflater for my spare (so it's not even there)

    cheers.

GI-22 and 23 of the manual give the lifting and jacking points on the Zed.
Sciccor jack slots into the part you have on the pic, but you need to get a hammer and dolly under there to straighten it out so that it fits.:)

Diff or front cross member is the only place you should lift the zed from.
With the scissor jack I have only ever used it once just were you showed the pic of the bent lower panel, but i could see it starting to make an impression there.
You can move it in at the front or rear corner just in from the wheels and there are lift points there about 1"x1" about the same surface area of the scissor jack.

If you have a look just under the sills. You will see a flat bit punched into the sill near that ridge. THAT is the right spot to jack. Bent seams like that one in your pic is because some dickhead used a trolley jack under the sissor jack lift point.

I actually have a bit of wood with a slot cut in it to do that if I need to.

BUT I usually use the engine cross member or the diff and lift up the whole end of the car whien I use a trolley jack. Much easier.

You better fix that up. It looks crap.

    Had the same damage -

I had the same damage as yours when I bought my Zed.

When I took my front guards off i took the time to straigten them out. It was easy enough to get a vice grip onto the bottom sill piece and slowly bend it back to straight. It is next to impossible with the guard tab and sill together but when the guard is not there the tab straightens easily.

You don't need to remove the guard completely you just need to seperate the guard tab from the sill. The bolt in the picture holds them together. Undo the bolt/s move the guard tab out of the way enough to get vice grips on the sill tab and straighten the sill tab.

My guard had a gap of about half and inch but now it lines up perfectly and my sissor jack fits the sill perfectly.

    Hope this helped.
    Cheers, Pete

There's a flat rail bit behind those chassis rails that's just about the right size for a trolley jack, I use that or the engine crossmember... for the rear I always jack from the diff.

Actually sad enough to make me almost laugh, I can see a novice doing this but when I hear about professionals, I think I would almost take my care to Homer simpson for work than let some of the so called pros near my car, at least with Homer you would expect the work to be...... of a lower standard. :)

Can somebody put up a pic of where I should be jacking from on the rear? Having trouble confirming when I try to stick my massive head under my car

I know they're not that great on stockies, but standing back it really stands out. Just wait 'til they're behind a set of these...

Lift it from the diff, have you got a trolley jack? Theres actually a diagram of the jack points in the service manual, theres an online one somewhere as well so check that.

On the next page you'll see lifting points for a two pole lift as they call it, around that place on the sill....

P.S... buy a trolley jack, easier and safer... ;) Oh and i haven't jacked up from this point before, just following what the book says..

Must've missed that after Wizard mentioned it ): my sills don't fit in the gap in my jack, though? guess I'll have to do what tekky did and cut myself up a piece of wood.

Knocked this up in 10 minutes with a jig saw after what Tekky said, SO much better than just the jack alone! no damage at all to my sills!
