My J-spec tail lights arrived today from the US. I love receiving things in the mail and there's nothing better than some brand new parts for the Zed!

Only took 3 days to arrive from the States, which is awesome considering I've bought numerous items from the eastern states here in my own country and it's taken over a week to arrive - express!

Anyway, might be a while before I get the time to install them. But when I do, I'll try to take some photo's of the install and maybe write up a guide or something.

If anyone has any questions regarding them, fire away. More than happy to help... :)

Total cost in Aussie dollars, including shipping etc = $528. (Left + Right lights only, no centre "300zx" panel).

    Cheers.

    Nice Purchase.....

I'm just wondering if anyone told you about the tech article of how to get clear tail lights for under $50?? Or do you prefer buying stuff, rather than D.I.Y?

    Know about the D.I.Y clears

Yes, I've seen some articles from people who have cleared their tails...but they never looked quite right imo. Usually the clear plastic they use looked a bit off whitish/dirty and never look as good as the originals. I also like the originals because of the black lines and slightly darker red in the brake lights.

    I don't mind D.I.Y projects, but I'm also very fussy about certain things...lol... :)

It's not the clear perspex being used that gives the dirty appearance..>>

It's because on the genuine 2000 the reflector part of the light has been painted white or some other light colour.

Hold your new tail lights up beside your originals and you'll quickly see what I mean.

    that was your problem

express posts have lower thresholds before the government will charge you on gst and duties and your more likely to get parcels inspected. Always go USPS for the states and your risks are as low as you can get them. These days the postage is so damn fast anyway express doesnt seem to make a difference.

It's funny how different peoples tastes are...

I really want 2000 spec clear rear lights, but I don't want the black lines through them. Strange huh!

you could do what I did.....

but I found it a traumatic experience, and swore I would never do it again. Infact I prefer to shell out and buy the 2000 rear lights...:LOL:

    Cheers

P.s Its only legal to have clear tail lights if you have a pod filter fitted, so pls piss that stock airbox off..:):LOL:

    I like the idea..

of having the inner plastic bits (difuser?) looking exactly the same - ie brake and indicator sections. But I really hate the black lines. I think I'll have to resort to buying 2000 rears and hacking them open to get the black lines off (or placing the existing black covers over them!).

I won't succumb to peer group pressure - I'm gunning to be the only mechanically stock Zed on the forum!

    You forgot about me Colin...

No other NA on the forum can be as stock as mine! Since they only made roughly 250+ RHD convertibles I want to maintain mine as stock as possible and don't really want to alter its originality unless I can do the alterations myself.

    :thumbsup

Well in that case Noxter, >>>

I'll get my stock Z rims repainted or powder coated so they look brand new, and then swap them for your non-standard bronze rims :LOL:;);).

Have to agree with Nathan here >>

So far I have always been able to have stuff sent by USPS. If a website says UPS, I always ask if USPS is possible, and Courtesy Nissan is the only one that has declined - so they didn't get my business.

A recent order from Strictly Z was quoted at US$90+ for UPS; the order had a value of A$250+ so would probably have attracted GST + duty. Asked for USPS instead, postage was about US$40.00, got through without duty/GST, and delivered in 8 days.

    US postage is a pain

compared to UK or here in Aus, the US postal system is slow and VERY expensive (relative).

I was going to buy a small (1 kg, 300mmX120mmX60mm) package off ebay that cost only US$9 dollars and USPS cost US$25!!!

    NO THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!

similar package from UK cost me about AU$20 and arrived in less than a week (to my shock and horror!). Wasn't expecting it for weeks!

    Cheers

    Hell Yeah....

Plus if he's going to be installing the J-Spec ones instead of the coloured ones most of us have... He'll be pulling out the whole thing anyway to put the new ones in
