...Went to go for a short trip yesterday, ute had bugger all oil in it and was almost out of fuel. Stuff it I'll take the bike I thought, but it also had no fuel in it. Went and got some fuel and finally got the bike going 40 minutes later. On the way home bike starts having high idle issues, so back in the shed it went to await time for investigation. Girlfriend had to get a flight today so the ute was the choice of vehicle for leaving unattended at the carpark for a few days. Im laying in bed at 5am listening to her leave when I hear the all to typical sound of a flat battery not starting an engine. Bugger it I say, take the zed and I'll go rescue it later when I get the ute going. So once I finally got up I inspect the utes battery and find it boiled dry so I topped it up and put the charger on it for a few hours. Few hours later cat starts freaking out about all the smoke comming from battery charger. I dont know what its problem is but the battery now has enough juice to fire up the engine, so off to grab the zed I go. Swap over to zed and decide to go to bike shop to enquire about bike but once I get there the cars imobiliser radio key wont lock car, so I used the key but knew I would have to find a new battery if I want to start the car again (had this happen before and discovered that the blinker code to unlock the imobiliser was not correct and hence did not unlock the engine). After an hour of wandering around the shops I finally find the battery I needed, time to head home..... Just hit the first overtake zone and I floor it past a car that cut me off back down the road, the car is flying up the hill past the ignorant magna driver when all of a sudden I smell engine coolant and the windows are all steamed up....F#8king C&@T!!!. Ive finally hit that stage of zed ownership, the infamous heater core failure. Im 100km from home and in no mood for further shinanigans with tow truck drivers damaging the car so I sat there for a while and tried to chill out. After a while I decided to see if the core would still leak if I set the temperature to 10 degrees, it did drip a bit but was all good. Found it worked better at 100kph than at 60 as the radiator cools far more efficiently, and thus keeps the the coolant at a smaller volume and pressure. Slowing down to 60kph the core would start to dribble as the coolant got hotter and expanded and pushed past the tap on the core hoses. Anyway got the car home and cleaned up as much of the coolant out of the carpet as I could.

Can someone please tell me what hose I need for bypassing. I know there was one that was an exact fit but I cant remember what car it was off, so if anyone can remember I will be very gratefull. I tell ya I must of pissed off the automobile gods or stepped on my black cat to hard or something!.

    red32 You talkin' to me?

You can also just loop one of the existing hoses onto both engine pipes. Easiest one is from the pax side of the engine, because it already has a half-loop.

. disconnect the hose from the drivers side engine pipe,
. remove the passenger side hose from the core hard pipe,
. loosen the clamp on the pax side engine pipe and rotate the hose slightly until it can be pushed onto the drivers side engine pipe and tighten the clamps.

The only difficulty arises because the rubber hose is a slightly smaller diameter at the heatercore end, but it will fit. It doesn't matter if there is a kink in the hose stopping coolant flow, because when the tap on the heater core is OFF, there is no coolant flow either.
