Is that easy to remove HICAS

    guys, I've browsing around on the tech section but couldn't find anything (maybe I miss it). So can anyone tell me is that hard to take the whole HICAS system out???cos I want to reduce the weight of my Zed and how heavy r they???

    Hi,

    I beleive if you remove everything for hicas you can remove 60kg, there might be some previous posts about it so try searching.

    Seriously doubt that you will remove 60kg.

    The HICAS steering box doesn't come anywhere near half of that, add the solenoid unit(about 2kg)and the associated pipework(another 3-4kg), then you have to install the HICAS removal kit at the rear end (additional weight). Not worth the effort IMHO.

    the rear hicas cylinder + pipework + solenoid + going to an NA pump and

    late model alloy bracket is what you can remove but then you have to add in the weight of two tie rods and brackets back in so overall I think it reduces weight by about 20-25Kg most of which is below the center of gravity. If you don't care for keeping the pipe work then you can easily cut it out and removing the rear cylinder doesn't take long.
