price of the 300zx has risen in the last 10 months or so ?? . I regularly search the carpoint and trader mags and it appears as if the average price has risen.Maybe something to do with the 15year rule change??. Any thoughts.

good, hope it keeps rising and it will as the last of the 15 yo zeds

get imported (alot of dealers put $5 on a zed just to hold it so they could import it if someone wanted to buy it, they did that to a shit load of zeds and the market got swamped with em..
give it 2 yrs and the average price will be atleast 1k higher since you cant import them anymore..

    i actually agree

i was lookin in the papers to see how much stock 300zxTTs go for, but not many STOCKIES around. People add some bits and pieces and Zs usually go for about 15k+ so good to see the Zs up there :p

And whats this i hear you cant import 300zx to .AU anymore?????????

No Idea about not being able to import but i

Just bought a zed with minor mods - Wheels, Exaust, sound system and turbo timer for $11,500 with a supposed 105,000ks on the clock so either i got an excellent deal or prices aren't so hot. I have seen lots of zeds that have been up for sale for months and months and are still not sold. My zed so far (touch Wood) has not come up with any suprises and i got the 100k service done the other week and have had datascan run on it. So not to sure about where the prices are going

hmm i thought they were dropping

last year i looked and looked for a decent cheap 300zx, but i didn't manage to find one in brisbane, or they sold before i had a chance to put my money down.

i've seen them much more regularly lately, but i'm chasing a 180 now!

    15 year rule change

no more jap imports over 15 years are coming in to the country unless paid for prior to the rule change last year.previously it was easier and cheaper to get the older ones into australia thats how i got mine

    Re: 15 year rule change

i think its to do with the maintenance of the zed....

i mean they generally have their own prices...

    Below $12,000 - expect problems

    $12-15,000 - u got a good deal

    $15,000-17,000 - well maintained zed

Above $17,000 - expect a clean, very well maintained zed, with nice mods, and preventative maintenance carried out such as under plenum bypass, egr bypass etc etc....

obviously these might be different figures for people but i feel thats the market for the zed...

p.s that was for a TT model lol...

I must have got a bargain then....

I paid $9500 for mine, 71000KM's, totally stock. Never had a problem, interior and exterior grade 4 and 700KM's to a tank on the highway.:)

word man, sucks for me, someone looking to buy a zed!

modified ones dont seem to be rising so much, but just the average price, i do believe this is because of that lack of imports still retaining import approval for the 15 y/o rule.

stock zeds, are now around 12-15k, which i would be happy to pay, for a good condition one, but these arnt great condition... which is annoying.

Would you get better fuel economy with GT28r's?

Economy will not change with different turbo's if you are

off the boost. The beauty of a turbo charged engine is that they only produce the power on demand unlike a worked engine with different cams etc, these generally have a heftier diet of fuel just to run the engine it it's new configuartion.

I used to own a VN V6 commodore which I fitted a twin screw supercharger running at 5PSI. On a long trip, economy actually improved by 50KM to a tank. Ah forced induction, gotta luv it :D

Thanks M8 , but that was a kind of tongue in cheek attempt to

combine ALL the previous fuel economy threads with ALL the previous GT28r turbo theads, because its been almost a day since both questions have been asked:wacko:

depends on who your dealing with

Car yards tend to sell cars more than they are worth, we all kinda know this, when i bought mine not to long ago, it sat in the car yard for more than 5 years, their starting price then, (i am relying on imformation which was supplied to me buy a worker there) was $23,000. I got it for less that 8,000. some people on ebay sell them, the price vary a lot, i think it comes down to what people think they are worth, their sentimental value is always worth more,

You just got to love the Z :zlove:

your car sat in a yard for 5 years????

that is huge!ive worked as a salesman in cay yards for a while and if a used car sits in a yard for about 3 months or so,the manager starts to go of his tits(pardon my french).
so they would have been very glad to see it go thats for sure!!:p

    small time yard....

i have looked at the car every year it has been there, i always said no to much, to much, this year it was under 9000, so i bought it, they sold it a few times, but when the under 25's went to insure it, they could not get it, to expinsive to insure, Others have bought it a said it was f@#ked, but i fixed all the error codes, all it needs now is tuning up. she really runs sweet now, just needs some more time spent on her, to get her spot on, hopfully this weekend i can get to see someone to help me weed out anyother problems with her,,,,,
