Is a "unit ignition" the same as a PTU?

    I ordered a PTU via Courtesy Nissan and a "Unit Ignition" 22020-97E11-KT" turned up.It doesn't look anything like a PTU but I can't get onto the Courtesy Parts website to check. I can't post a pic yet but I thought PTUs were roughly square but this thing is hexagonal with a plug input on both of the longest sides of the hexagon.Egads!Geoff

    Sounds like you got a type 2 ptu, there should be a kit with brackets etc. Does it look like this...

    Yes, you got the series 2.....

    the series 2 is not prone to failure like the series 1. I bought one in the first 2 weeks of zed ownership (now 2 1/2 years ago) as I do lots of highway long distance driving and didnt want to konk out far from home.Cheers
