Hi all, I've just recently bought myself a N/A 300zx 2+2 manual w/targa top, And thought this place looked as good as any to start meeting other people who love these cars. I've always wanted one and now being single for once i can actually afford to buy it. Anyways, the main reason for this post is, i'd like some opinions on which direction to go with this car, performance wise and body wise. I've been looking at some pretty nice bodykits around, i think it was the bomex one that took my fancy. And as far as engine mods go, I'm wondering how hard a TT transpant is? Anyways, Let me know what you think, And whats the brisbane 300 scene like?

    cheers :D

Welcome, keep an eye on the Coming Events, see if you can make Baz's Chardy Shack event on the 12th of Jan! Excellent food and a good chance to come and meet most of the Brisbane/Gold Coast crew :zlove:

TT swap is by far the cheapest way of making a NA faster...

Welcome, what part of Queensland are you from? The tech section and search button will be your freinds when searching for all possible mods and solutions for your new purchase. As far as performance goes, don't expect to gain much from an N/A. A TT will always give more power vs dollars spent. A TT transplant is economical if you can do everything yourself. Looking around $3K for a front cut which will require a lot of it moved into the N/A shell. Most economical way of doing it is to sell your N/A and buy a TT. Sorry if that sounds harsh but when you do the math it wins hands down everytime.

Hey, sorry it took so long for me to reply, Just got back from holiday in Darwin. I'm living in Brisbane, Just moved here about 6 months ago after spending 5 years in NZ.

So down to business. I'm DEFINATELY keen on doing some kind of swap with a TT, i've seen occasionally an engine for sale, with all the bits on it, and considered buying one to do up and ready before i swap, but i have no idea really what other parts i need. So not sure whether front cut is better?

As far as Events go i'd be keen to attend, I've seen a sexy as f**k orange 300 around town and im wondering if the owner is a member here. I want to ask him what body kit he has.

MM anyway on a different note, Just visited my folks in Darwin, found out they are now running a digital printing business, and they can do proper car stickers. Not the vinyl type yet, but just decent high quality graphics etc for panels / windows, so i've already got them printing me a few nismo stickers i drew up on Paintshop, which im going to put on the top of my windscreen covering left to right. What im getting at is, anybody want some stickers? Not sure what the cost is going to be, But it would definately be very reasonable, I could provide some custom graphics, logo's, car club etc stickers. lemme know what you guys think.

I've got some pics of my car, its completely stock standard but i'll put them up anyways :) thanks for the replies

welcome to the forum :) as others have said, familiarise yourself with the tech section, you'll probably need it

as for a tt swap, realistically if your lookign at going tt by far the cheapest way is to sell your na and buy a tt. an originall tt will hold value more than a swapped one aswell.

cheers martin :) the thing with the TT's is, that i looked at a few when i was in the market, but i chose the one i have because of its immaculate condition, targa top, 2+2 seating and the manual, other ones i looked at had stuffed turbo's, bad condion, auto or no targa. i guess people hold onto the good ones! Anyway man, i think i've seen your car around brisbane yea? so far spotted = nice orange one, funny lookin purple one D: bright red one down the road from me, (mines burgundy), standard white one and standard grey/ silver? oh and only one TT in a bright red with custom tail lights. Hmmm its funny how i notice them all now, whereas before i bought the z i never did.

    Hi J0no and welcome.

If you just bought an NA but wanted a TT you made a big mistake. You should have done your research and bought a TT instead.

Nothing wrong with an NA though

    Welcome Jono....

I have to agree with the others.....NA's are a great car, but if you want to go TT then you might as well sell the NA and buy the TT, it will save you time and money. The cars although looking the same are built very differently. The turbos versions are built to a higher specification in numerous areas to cope with the extra power that they produce. I believe that this includes the diff and brakes, not to mention extras like climate control, four wheel steering and others. Even if you spend the money and do the conversion, you then have a high powered car that doesn't have the peripherals to support it (a recipe for problems). There are good TT's around you just need to be patient to find one. Keep an eye on the Z's For Sale section on this site as well. :zlove:
