Oil pump failure - caused by underdrive pulley?

On these engines, the oil pump is fitted around the front of the crank. Ford's explanation seems to be that increased crank flex caused by the fitting of an udp has caused the oil pump to fail. The clearances within the oil pump were exceeded due to the increased flex.

Note that the Zed oil pump (and most other oil pumps) are a different configuration.

His crankshaft spun backwards @ high rpm

surely his talking twist here, 25% udp, must mean in relation to the stock pully, oh well, lucky we dont have problems with udp's on our cars, :D

Looking at mine I,d say the oil pump is extremely close to the

front of of the crank shaft.
