My engine has been playing funny buggers on and off for the last eight months, both previous times it has been running rough and has resolved itself, by my tests I am pretty sure it was missing on a cylinder and very possibly related to poor fuel. Well it has happened again but this time there are these "pop" noises coming from passenger side exhaust which is the side that has played up before, the pop could also be called a quick deep "bup" type of noise, it is more prevalent at idle and when I take my foot off the accelerator pedal. The injector sounds louder than normal and there is a fuel smell in the area although this is hard to pick the exact location and my be unrelated. I have a new S2 PTU and the roughness occured prior to this being installed so it is not PTU related. The engine is getting pulled in about six weeks time (fingers crossed) for new turbos and 100K service. So any serious work I am trying to hold off until then. Any advice will be appreciated, thanks.
Minor backfire caused by a dribbling injector? Have all injectors serviced during upcoming service and replace all connectors. Caz can supply.
Thanks heaps for that K-Zed, much appreciated. Have received connectors from Caz a few weeks ago, waiting for service for install
speaking of backfires and popping my red zed, on De-accell using the engine between 2,000 to 1,300~ is it will pop randomly each exhaust pipe some times i can get quite loud ones .. sounds cool... haha but why do you think its doing that? There are no exhaust leaks that iam aware of, well not that I can hear.
