Hey, one of the first mods i had in mind when i got my 300zx was to change the trim as many might have seen kits like this on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/90-96-300ZX-INTERIOR-TRIM-KITS-ITALIAN-VINYL-127-AUD_W0QQitemZ8010999128QQcategoryZ6775QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I tried to get an interior trim kit as sold on ebay but my old man was reluctant of getting it and i mean he had a very good reason not to get it, would we be able to make it fit on properly and the job looking professionaly done. So thats the reason i didnt push for it but i asked some local interior retrim shops in sydney and they say they will do it including suppling the trim for around $700 (more or less). Most of us cant afford that much money on somthing like this. I know it will be difficult for a group buy as i mean we cant all drive and get it done in one state but anyone recon its possible if we get a couple of guys getting it done at same place and getting it alot cheeper. I personally would be looking at something close to half that price. The kits cost around $150 on ebay should be cheeper i would think at the actual retrim shops and lets say the labour is like four hours so i wouldnt think getting it done at half the price should be difficult( im not very experienced about this so excuse me please if i got the calculation wrong).Anyone have any idea how much it will cost? by the way if this isnt a good idea then there is also the option that we buy a whole lot of them from ebay and get them put on by a pro( it would be great if anyone from this forum had experience in installing the kits). Any ideas?

    Didn't check the link

But if it's the kit being offered by "interior magic" then he did a group buy on here a little while back. I think those kits are supposed to be DIY -i realise everyone's idea of diy is different but from what I understand it's relatively simple if you're patient and follow the directions.

Maybe a search would turn up some more useful info?

    DIY

It stands for Do It Yourself.

If you actually visit the website it tells you what materials are required for the job. Also, it is not such a difficult task. All you need is some patients and the job will get done right... You will find that you may need to slighlty modify the interior trims so that you don't get any ugly overlapping and material build ups in corners.

    COLOUR/TRIM

It all depends on what colour tickles your fancy.. Red will always look good on black. BUT, some might say it looks tacky. All up to the individual. Also, just think, what type of leather do you get for $150? It woudn't be the best of quality, nor will it last very long. The italian Vinyl is actually more durable than leather and is softer that the leather being provided.

My opinion is to go for the vinyl... Just my opinion.

    Tezzzz.

    INSTALL

    Hey Bud,

I would help you and all, but i dont get my license back until late november BOOOHOOOO... It should take approx half a day, with the right tools and no obvious problems... I haven't done it to mine, but i have installed on a friend of mines.. Its not that difficult, but you need to be pretty savy when it comes to things like this. to be honest the first time was pretty shit... So we bought another one and it is perfect. We cut some slits in the vinyl so that there was no build ups around the curves, and it tucked away quite nicely.

if you know what your doing there shouldn't be an issue at all...

You might want to review some of the tech articles, to point you in the right direction when pulling off some trims.

    Keep me posted.

sorry guys ,i have been away from this website for a while

i have been so busy with the kits and a new project. ok, for the guys who's asking if this is easy, the answer is yes, but you have to take your time to make sure each piece is perfect before you can move on to the next, the best thing about my kit is, if you mess up a piece you can always order that 1 piece anytime you want without having to buy the whole kit over, just save a tiny sample, so i can match the color. I had to make 2 pieces of the Australian zx kit bigger because i guess before, they did not cover the whole panel, but the US AND UK version fit fine. for anybody wants to get intouch with me you can email me at kendog943@aol.com, and right now i'm accepting any form or payment, whatever is easier for you guys, paypal, western union, bank check, money order, i have one last group-buy going on for $172AUD, thanks guys and i will try to PM everybody that has been trying to find me.

i sell leather too, but go with the italian vinyl, the thing most people don't know is, 99% of cars's interior on the market, only the front part of the seats are leather, meaning only the part where your back and your butt sits is leather everything else is vinyl and that's including the zx, even high class mercedes and porsche. the difference between the italian vinyl and the leather is, the leather will dry out in the long run and the vinyl will stay soft, if you guys wants to see 1st hand the difference, look at your factory zx seats, touch the front part then touch the back part of the seats, the soft part is vinyl.
Zxfire, having a black car, you can do any color interior and it will look good, everything goes well with black, it really depend on your taste
