Its been like this ever since i've had it....over 2 years now lol So I might finally ask the question, even though its not really a issue and I put up with it. Whenever I turn on the air-con the cold air only comes out the center vents. Whenever I turn on the heaters it only comes out at the feet. What seems to be the go?
Sounds like you need a consult/conzult diagnostic, but you can also try the self diagnostic as described in the online manual.
Excuse my dumbness But can you still do the self diagnostic if you are runnings a totally differnt ECU...im guessing NO
No you can't Ben... I do have an idea on what you could do. Do as I did, remove the aircon totally, and bypass the heatcore FIXED!
Dont mind getting rid of the aircon... But not the heaters man!!! I drive everywhere with my windows down, even if its freezing...nothing beats the sound of a roaring VG But i'll shout you half a glass of beer to remove my AC for me
If you are serious about removing the aircon... Do it when your engine is out, so much easier. I removed ALL of it from my Z when the engine was out.
Mine does the same thing, I thought it was normal The service manual shows what proportion of air goes where, and during heating 90% or so goes to the feet...
assuming you have climate control like me. when i have heat (hot) feet & windscreen only. 40 does it on display If i want vents in middle front and side doors i put to 35 and it changes to them -(not) windscreen the reason why i know this is i don't get hot air on feet got conzult tested and everything was fine still working on it. could be my system playing up but thats how i use mine.
most of the a/c gear is just behind the firewall in the interior. the engine bay would only consist of the radiator, canister, ac pump, belt and hardlines. i don't see why it's not possible to remove it without taking the engine out, most cases when engines come out the a/c needs to be removed first.
probably too simple to be the cause, at least with the heating, but is all the ducting in place joining from the center to the sides of the dash? Bottom heating ducting could be miss aligned or missing.
It wouldn't be that hard to do... But it would be a lot easier to do if you had the car up on chassis stands. The canister, and a lot of the hard-lines are located in front, near the radiator. The compressor is easy to remove. The hard-line all run up the passenger side of the engine bay up to the fire wall. TIP: I cut the hard-pipes in a lot of pieces to make it easier to remove from the front of the bay. Also worth noting, it is illegal to simply loosen a air-con pipe etc... and let it vent into the atmosphere when emptying.
As far as Im aware, the climate control has its own little brain that does its own diagnostic separate to the ecu. Theres a procedure on how to start it in the service manual in the air conditioning section.
I cant run any diagnostics... Im running a full replacement ecu...What should I check? and where to look for it?
