Hey guys and girls trying to get a rough idea of what intake temps people are seeing with front mounts on average.

    Thanks

    22* IT, 32* ambient

Look up some dyno graphs most should show these figures

    10 degrees lower than ambient?

    ...no.... my mistake... well spotted!

Should have been intake temps 32* at 24psi, ambient temps 22*

is that from a cool motor and on the dyno. I would think it would get hotter than that with normal driving.

Yes on dyno and what do you mean by cool? That was after a few hard pulls...

I will let you know when I get around to normal driving it ;)

Yea i found on the dyno it runs heaps cooler due to large fan and being in the shade. wat that plenum temps or intake just after cooler? ill put temps up ill just go put temp sensor in. i have a vq30det though so we will see the differences.

Yeah plenum (I think), just before TB's

Without meaning to hijack your thread here, I don't suppose someone could tell me whether having metal hard pipes as opposed to silicon would be more beneficial when it comes to intake temps?

From my own reasoning silicon would not be prone to heating up thus keeping the air tempertures going into the TB constant, but then again metal has heat sinking abilities - would this improve heat dissipation (cooler air) or heat the air more?

I'm sure any gains would be minimal but interested to hear what people think..

id say that metal pipes woud be worse, they wouldnt cool down in teh bay, just heat up

    steel is definitely worse

    alloy/aluminium is better
